Your goal is to get a trek in with poles!!
These are an awesome find!High quality, easy to use, lightweight yet strong and sturdy hiking/walking/out-and-about-trekking poles. For anyone needing that extra bit of comfort or support, these poles are gonna do great!What do I mean by anyone? I mean anyone. Young, old, fit, fat. I’m 5’10” and you can see that FULLY EXTENDED, these hiking poles let me stand with my arm/elbow bent at 90 degrees. I know when I recently summited Humphrey’s Peak that a pair of easy to grab hiking poles might’ve been a nice thing to have at the ready (hey, the air gets a bit ‘dizzying’ at over 12,000 feet). They’d help my son too. He’s on the heavier side recovering from knee surgery. Are these a crutch designed to hold your entire body weight? NO! That’s what your own two legs are for, silly. But these hiking/trekking poles are a GREAT way to keep you steady and balanced up on top of them heading up or down the mountain, or maybe just out around the block enjoying the town.Last tip, I’ll give you the secret cheat code:……there’s a hidden section inside the handle. Even with no instructions, these poles were pretty easy to figure out and put together. Took me a total of five minutes. I was very impressed with how well packed these were for shipping. And each pole comes with it’s own storage/travel bag. The main shaft is broken down into three sections that are velcro strapped together. Undo the velcro strap and let gravity basically fold the pole out on it’s own. But wait?! It’s floppy! How do you tighten it up??? Look for the secret arrow under at the bottom of the handle section. A fourth shaft slides out to completely lock the pole rigid into place. Then attach whichever foot style you like (both poles come with both sets of feet, choose whichever depending on what you like and where you’re headed).That’s it! Now all you gotta do is go outside and get to trekking!

inexpensive but works!
These are really good for inexpensive trekking poles! Lots of accessories as well. They’re light weight and pack down nicely. I wouldn’t take these to Everest or anything, but for every day hiking I think they’re a great option! My parents were confused how to install – there is a portion of the top pole you have to slide up to create tension on the rope. You’ll see a button pop out to keep tension.

Lack of instructions might lead to unnecessary returns of an otherwise excellent product.
It is unfortunate that sometimes an initial bad impression of an actually good product could have been completely avoided by just including some decent instructions. Just like other reviewers of this product, I was initially both confused and disappointed when I first opened up the package and saw the content. There were no instructions included and my first impression was that at least one of the poles had arrived broken, and I was mad at the lack of quality control.Turns out that the poles were completely fine and the design is actually quite ingenious. Once you figure out the assembly and adjustment techniques these actually prove to be very good, compact trekking poles. My wife and I already have other collapsible poles, but we were looking for something even more compact to fit in a carry-on suitcases or backpacks, which our other collapsible poles wonât do. These poles are perfect for that, and each pole comes with itâs own draw-string carrying bag which has room enough for the pole and the three attachments included with each pole.To give them a true test we spent a few days hiking the cliffs along the Northern California coast, and my wife used these for the whole time. She now prefers them to our far pricier trekking poles. They held up very well and should travel very well due to their small size when broken down. Unfortunately I couldnât use them myself, they were too short for me, but perfect for my wife when the poles were fully extended. Other than the lack of instructions I have nothing but good things to say about them, I just hope you enjoy a good puzzle when they first arrive. That’s the only reason I can’t give them five stars.
