Hamilton!
My tween daughter is obsessed with the Broadway show, Hamilton. She’s constantly listening to and singing it, which peaked my 5.5yo son’s interest in learning more about this Founding Father as well. I was thrilled to find a book that is at his independent reading level for him to engage in. He enjoyed learning about Hamilton’s younger years and how he grew into a great political leader. The illustrations were fun, too! My daughter also wanted to read this book, and said it was a good generalization of a lot of the milestones in Alexander Hamilton’s life. We liked this book so much, I have since purchased more books in this series (George Washington, Thomas Jefferson & Benjamin Franklin.)

Good primer for a complex man
Alexander Hamilton, like most of the Founding Fathers, was not a simple man. But the upbeat manner of this book is great for a first grader. Gives a feeling of hope. I will admit, even I learned a bit of his early life I was not aware of beforehand.Only wish it had focused a bit more on his contributions to the nation and the establishment of the economy. This was truly one of his greatest and longest lasting accomplishments and it is glossed over.But the story of the American Dream, you can rise from nothing to the highest levels is solid in this book.

One of my granddaughters is fascinated with presidents, and now with the story of Hamilton. She is a First Grader and really enjoyed reading this short book. It opened the door to more questions, and promoted family discussions.

My 5.5 year old daughter is a Hamilton musical fanatic – she’s only heard the music and it’s taken her imagination by storm. This is a simple intro to who Hamilton was, for young kids. I couldn’t find much else out there so this book is great!

We got this for our six year old daughter who is really into the Hamilton musical. It tracks the story well and skips the bits that that we also skip on the soundtrack (affair, losing his son). Good companion book for a young Hamfan.

I love these books. I’m constantly looking for interesting nonfiction texts for my classroom. These are perfect for my third graders and they can not get enough of them. Kids are constantly coming up to me and telling me new facts that they have learned from the books in this series. Great for science, reading, social studies, history, vocabulary, etc. Highly recommended!

Although the book is pitched at the right level for my competent 6 year old reader the pages where out of sequence. I had read a review before purchasing that this had happened but hoped it was a one off. It obviously wasn’t.My Hamilton obsessed daughter was disappointed that there was no mention of the schuyler sisters.
