    Not what I was expecting
But probably better, barely any text in this book, it’s just A LOT of great drawings for reference with just enough information, but if you are looking for a more in depth explanation of the anatomy you need to look somewhere else

    Very helpful
This book has really helped my teenager understand the human anatomy and how to draw it. She taught me that the human spine is the head ×3. It’s also helped her greatly with drawing hands.

Seems more like a medical book
I bought this book as a sub-beginner at drawing and bought this book to help with perspective but it seemed to be more like a medical book than a sketchbook to teach perspective

There are tons of anatomy books out there.
Like the heading says, there are tons out there. I gifted an older copy to a friends daughter, and this one was hard to find without knowing the authors name. The plates in this book are just top notch, this book focuses on drawing figures more than actual precise anatomy, the gesture examples and lines of action are some of the most inspiring i have come across, If there is one book i keep referencing back too its this one. Every artist interested in drawing the figure from imagination should have this book.

Section on ethnic facial features is outdated and offensive
Page 59 in the book refers to the “five races of man” not humans, of course, because women are not included in this book’s antiquated notion of what it means to be human. It refers to my ethnicity as the “yellow race, or Mongolian race.” It refers to blacks as Ethiopians, and the red race as American Indian. This belies the book’s eugenics-style, antiquated, culturally-insensitive thinking and needs desperately to be revised by someone with a current anthropological background. These terms are not longer used in racial typology and are considered offensive.I’m tempted to return the book for this reason, but because the other content is quite helpful, I’m hoping my review will encourage the publishers to spend the money and time (yes, it’s that necessary even though publishing budgets are slimmer and slimmer!), to revise and have the book carefully edited. Lest they only want non-offended buyers of one race to buy the book.

A wealth of anatomical info and great drawings
This is a great book for artists. Human anatomy is well illustrated with explanations, and associated with drawings and sketches. It’s a great resource at a very reasonable price.

First off, the seller was great, shipping took longer but seller reassured me it was on the way.The book. This is the perfect art anatomy book for beginners or those who need to get back into life drawing. I had this book 20 years back in art school and now that I’ve gone back to art, knew this was the way. Victor describes the human anatomy in the most simplest way with many basic and easy illustrations. No wonder it’s still a handy tool in teaching art.
