    A Lifesaver
This book is just what the doctor ordered. I am completing my certificate in fitness, which involves a fair bit of basic anatomy. Unfortunately, the course material on anatomy is not well written and is misleading in places, leading me to feel very confused about the structure and functions of (for example) the shoulder girdle.
Then I discovered Anatomy of the Moving Body and suddenly it is all making sense. The real strength of this book is that it achieves just what the author sets out to achieve, providing just the right amount of information for those of us who need to understand how the body moves and fits together, but do not need a medical degree or physiotherapy qualifications. This book is spot on in that regard and it is actually easy and enjoyable to read! I keep it with me all the time as an easy reference source.
One of the other reviews was critical of the fact that the drawings are in black and white, but I haven’t found this to be a drawback at all. They are clear and easy to follow and I actually think that colour would have been an overkill and possibly would detract from the simple appeal of this book. I also have Chris Jarmey’s The Concise Book of Muscles, which does have colour drawings. Used together, the two books are a great combination and I would thoroughly recommend getting both.
In summary, Anatomy of the Moving Body is a great resource for those who need a basic to intermediate knowledge of anatomy. It is well written, well laid out and delivers just the right amount of information. Well done to the author.

    Written very clearly
Some anatomy books seem as if they are written deliberately complicated. That’s my take. Not this one. If you are just starting Massage Therapy classes. I highly recommend you get this book, in addition to your course required books. Read your required book chapters and then follow up with this one. He’s not “trippin” on his “Dr” Dimon Jr. title. On the book cover he even leaves his “Dr” title out of his name, but he is a Dr.(a Harvard graduate). He presents the material in his book like a good instructor would in class….so you can understand. It’s not written to show how smart he is. It is written so the person without knowledge of the musculoskeletal system can gain some. Actually, I think the book is a compilation of lectures he has given at the Dimon Institute. Yes, the “Dimon” Institute for the Alexander Technique in Cambridge. Don’t miss out on a very knowledgeable author that knows how to convey his knowledge to other. Anatomy is anatomy, that doesn’t change, but it’s his presentation that is so good. Look at the price, very inexpensive compared to the 100.+ books you may be required to purchase. He really should charge more for his book.

    Very educational and well organized
I found Anatomy of the Moving Body very educational and well organized which makes it easy to find the topic you are interested in. The only drawback is the fact it is in black and white, but for the price it’s great.

    Useful images
I got this for my daughter to help with her anatomy and physiology classes. So far it has already helped her distinguish muscle groups better than the class slides she’s shown. So big plus for that.
