Good book
There are many little know facts about different species of wildlife. What I like is that these snippets are quick to read and are easy to read

Like the animal books I liked as a Kid, but far more informative, mature, and intelligent
I have fond memories of my Mom reading me books of animal, plant, and fungus facts when I was a kid and not being familiar with this series, I was expecting much of the same. I was only half-right. While this book is full of interesting, organized facts about various things in nature, most of which I did not know before, the book was a lot more intelligent than I would’ve expected. I thought the book might have been better for my nephew but I can see any inquisitive adult really getting a kick outo f this one.The wild life of sections where various people who do nature jobs were not my favorite and I preferred the more detached facts about the living creatures more, I can see how most people would like them.If you liked fun fact books as a kid, this will really suit you as an adult and I very much recommend this to anyone, because I’m fairly well-educated and most of the stuff in this book was new to me.

An interesting book, as long as you know what you’re getting
I’ve been an admirer of the Atlas Obscura website for years, but I’ve never had any of their books. This is a handsome book with tons of info on the world’s most incredible creatures (with illustrations), but I wouldn’t say it’s travel-oriented (despite being called an Explorer’s Guide). Yes, it tells you where the various plants & animals are located, including a sentence on “How best to see them,” but many of the creatures cannot realistically be seen at all (according to the book, they are in remote or inaccessible places). However, this book might inspire you to do some research on a locale, and plan a trip that includes an attempt to see a particularly interesting animal/plant in the book.  So, it’s an interesting book, as long as you know what you’re getting.

I’ve been reading a page a day and am perpetually fascinated with everything in this book. Sometimes we’ll also grab it, turn to a random page, and say “yeah, but have you heard about…” and then burst out laughing as we learn about some whacky new creature together.
