Its thicker, for those that have bigger gaps between their teeth
Love this dentotape has a thicker floss for my teeth. I am 54, I have gaps between all my teeth where food gets in and if I don’t take the food out; it’ll definitely give me horrible breath! The dentist told me that in the back of your tongue (near tonsils) there are hole pockets; as you get older, they get bigger and if you don’t brush your tongue; you’ll get bad breath. Brushing behind the back teeth helps, too. I use to watch my dentist when he’d cleaning my teeth with floss (during dentist cleanings). Its very embarrassing when people wrap their hands over their mouths because your breath is offensive. Oh, this dental tape doesn’t make my teeth bleed either. The other thin flosses; are too sharp and make my teeth bleed but not this one. I cannot find dentotape at my local store (W…) so I have to order it here. I also recommend Biotene (a mouth rinse) by GlaxoSmithKline. The biotene rinse helps get rid of food particles; where brushing isn’t enough. No more trips to the dentists since we started using these great products and no more bad breath.

we’re still not there
i have tight teeth with gumline spaces. like all the other tapes i have tried, this one is too hard to get between the tight tops. it needs to have more wax in order to slide between them. then it’s too thin to work well in the spaces. the best stuff was green mint-flavored waxed dentotape but they don’t sell it anymore. instead you get generic copies that shred before you even get them off the spool. what’s needed is a new design where the floss alternates between strong thin waxed sections for “getting in” and thick soft fluffy sections for cleaning. if you commercialize this idea, please send me a percentage of the profits. :-]

Best Dental Floss for Tight Teeth Too!
Received a couple of days late, due to inclement weather, but that’s no fault of supplier. UPS couldn’t get to me.
I’ve been looking for more of this floss in all of my local stores for months, to no avail. Though this extra wide floss is made for widely spaced teeth, I actually use it for my incredibly tightly packed teeth. All the floss that’s made for tight teeth is very fine, and it immediately shreds and thin pieces get stuck in between my teeth. Terrible!
The extra wide dentotape is very strong though, and doesn’t tear or shred. It’s not so wide that I can’t get it in between all my teeth, so it works great! And with 100 yards in the package, it lasts forever. I’m so happy to have found it on amazon! I was losing hope that I’d ever see it again!

It’s “ribbon” not “tape,” but it’s very strong
I agree with another reviewer who said that using the term “ribbon” makes it sound like dental *tape,” which I associate with a floss that’s flatter and wider than this is. What we need is a measurement that let’s us know how wide is “wide.” Best I can do is show this comparison (with a dime to give some idea of size). I smoothed both lengths of floss as flat as I could, to see the comparative “widths” on their flat side.
The floss at top is Oral B Pro-Health Deep Clean floss. The width of the Oral B floss is about what I would expect from something that calls itself “tape,” but note that *Oral B doesn’t call it tape,* and that may be because it is VERY thin, so it is also very easy to get between teeth (and also more liable to break, not surprisingly).
The floss at the bottom is the product I’m reviewing: the Reach “ribbon” floss. Note that it is about half the width of the Oral B floss–but it’s thick! So it feels much thicker than the Oral B product, and thicker than most “regular” floss I’ve used–meaning it’s pretty strong–strong enough that you should be careful about applying too much pressure to temporary (and maybe not so temporary) dental work–be prepared to pull it out sideways at times. It also has a kind of waxy feel, which is okay with me, but you may not like that. Also, as you can see in the photo, the Reach product is longer than the Oral B, so…no, just kidding!
Summary: this is definitely thicker and stronger than most floss I’ve used, but it’s not very wide (see pic), if that’s what you’re looking for.

Good product; sufficient quantity that you won’t be re-ordering frequently
Exactly as-advertised and does what it should.
First of all, this is a really LARGE roll. I do not anticipate that I shall have to re-order it anytime soon.
I would add that I did not notice in the product description that this floss is WAXED — haven’t seen the benefit of this, and haven’t bought this … until now, that is.
But the wax works well in two regards:
— helps the coils of this product to stick together (rather than slipping apart and slipping off your finger as you floss)
— and helps the floss to slide smoothly between your teeth, while removing anything attached to them.
OK, now I am looking for floss that DOES have wax …

Inadequate
I ordered this product(3) at a cost of $15. because I have problems with floss breaking in my teeth and the need for Reach dentotape that will not break. When I received I opened one of the three and tried it. The result was that it shredded in my teeth. I returned two of the three to the shipper because the site indicated anything unopened could be returned if not satisfied.
I have not received any credit for the two items nor have I heard from anyone regarding the issue. I am certain I will not receive a credit and had I known I would never hear from anyone, I would have kept the two and given them to others.
I have learned a lesson which I will not forget. Do Not Order This type of Product Online!

I love this dental tape. Despite what other brands claim this is the only tape which is really thick enough to be of any use even between slightly larger gaps. I have been using it for years now – trying out other products in between – only to always return to this tape. It really is the best of them all!
