really read this and itâs worth a re read!
– this is a self help book that points you back to the Bible, makes you laugh, cry, and is also an autobiography and crash course on comedy?!?!- Iâve read this over a year on my phone and it was really a great motivation! Casual yet serious enough for me to take life lessons from! I wish it had a study guide to pair with!

This has quickly become one of my favorite books! I highlighted so much and have recommended it to my family members and friends. I like how Yvonne talks about real life issues but also add humor, Jesus and scripture. Iâve already finished the book but I will probably re read it.

Just scrolling through Instagram one day and Sarah Jakes-Roberts mentioned this book. I was like lemme go see and to my surprise, it’s was the “girl from Insecure”. I knew her character’s name but now I know and pay attention to her REAL name.It was this scroll through Instagram that was part of my destiny as I wrestled with purchasing a newly realeased book (which I never did before). The packaging is what got me, I’m a sucker, I know, but boy oh boy, if that’s what it took for me to get this book, Jesus knew.I’m from the Caribbean, Trinidad and Tobago to be exact, so $1USD is approximately $7TT, plus I can’t return it as easily if I needed to. The “risk” was soooo worth it!I am writing this review after reading chapter 14…..Da Book Is Good!Dare I say it changed…my…life.A friend asked me to borrow because I raved about it on Instagram, which ain’t a problem BUT I believe this book is multidimensional and the places I have highlighted in the book may skew her experience. So please, if you are look for a Word, Encouragement, laughs and a whole lotta self growth and introspection….get the book!Thanks Yvonne if you ever see this.

Reading âBamboozled by Jesusâ proved to be essential to my spiritual growth.Yvonne Orji shares the blessings and messages she learned from her life experiences. She approaches her audience with just the right tone and authenticity of a true friend who balances loving you, while at the same time holding you accountable for getting out of your own way in order to become the most authentic version of yourself that God plans for you to be . Although, I bought the physical book (which has been added to my books to go section of my bookcase) it was listening to Yvonne tell her story on the audio book AND following along on the Kindle that turned my Friday and Saturday plans to watch Netflix and Chill to listening and highlighting the gems and nuggets found in all 24 chapters of BBJ. In her God has a blessing with your name on it and Girl you better stop playing with God and go get your blessing tone, Yvonne Orji delivers a message that encouraged and inspired my soul to come out of spiritual stagnation. I recommend everyone be openminded to the blessings that come with getting âBamboozled by Jesusâ

Not a Fan of the Title, but Have an Open Mind
Why are people so judgemental? I am not a fan of the way she speaks in the book. While she does use slang, I don’t think it takes away from the message that she presents in the book. There’s enough proper language to decipher what she is saying.For people commenting this is not Christian material, I think they are reading too much into it. I don’t think she meant this to be a Christian Self help book and she clearly states this at the beginning of the book. This book is more of HER story and HER walk with Jesus and HER testimony of what God/Jesus has done in HER Life. We cannot tell her what her walk should be. Take her story or leave it.Aside from this, I thought the book was pretty good. It’s always nice to get a glimpse into a star’s life and to see how they came about. If you go into the book with an open mind, you can gather inspiration. I think a Christian can gain from this book if you look at the overall big picture and do not analyze every word or story in it. Inspiration is all around us, you have to have an open mind to see it. Give it a chance.

One of the best God inspired, encouraging books I have read. This is one of the few books that makes me want to go out, face my fears, and do it! I went back to school to receive my educational administrative degree because of this book. I keep telling everyone to get it. Keep inspiring!

After the first few chapters, I had to stop underlining because I was underlining the whole book! I absolutely LOVED the way scripture pours out of Yvonne, and her ability to mix it with contemporary lyrics is unmatched, refreshing, and a rare skill. The Word cannot pour out that naturally from someone who doesnât soak in it consistently, and Yvonneâs faithfulness is evident in this book.I understood every single reference she made, and there were times when I burst out laughing, times when her words cut right to my heart, and times when I felt so unbelievably seen and encouraged.If you are a first generation Nigerian (or African) American, who didnât choose the DLE route (doctor, lawyer, engineer), this book will help you feel heard, advocated for, and not alone. Itâs a reassuring confidence that God truly is at work in our Spirit led rebellion, and doing something new in our lives and family.It is clear that Yvonne not only knows who her audience is, but she too has embraced who she is and was created to be to the fullest, and her presence in this world in turn liberates others to fully embrace who they were created to be.In case you canât tell, I HIGHLY recommend & Iâm grateful for this book!
