They get stuck.
My poles are stuck. They will not collapse now. The poles are nice and light. I forgot to fold them back up and the aluminum has now oxidized and they work not come apart.

Nice poles, but unsafe
One of the poles collapses where the little silver button somehow fails. I noticed it only happens on flat surfaces where I’m using the poles, much like I would for nordic skiing and pushing off. The return window has passed, so I’m out $160. Expected better from Black Diamond.

Little silver button that locks it into place failed, like many other reviewers.
FlipLock not particularly strong, mechanism to keep the pole extended failed in about 1.5 years. Just submitted a claim, as it is still under warranty. Would not recommend this version given it is still very expensive and is not particularly well made. Previously used the Alpine folding version, which had a much stronger lock mechanism which very rarely slipped, although granted it was also a little harder to unlock as well. That model has been discontinued, though they still have the non-foldable version and the Pursuit version looks similar (but still with a plastic lock rather than metal). As an update, Black Diamond did without question honor the warrantee and sent me a new one (2 poles). 2 year warrantee, no additional questions asked, so happy about that. Just be aware that this particular model can fail.

Bad design
Only took me twice using the lock cam to have it quit working. It’s incredible that they were $160 and just don’t work. I had a set of Z-poles for 8 years before falling and snapping one. They worked great the entire time. So naturally I ordered another pair. Great poles as long as you never retract them.

Tip broke off
Went on more serious hiking and crossing Tongariro one tip broke off and two days later the other tip broke. They are useless! Not to mention that the straps are uncomfortable.

Not sturdy
The adjustment would not hold in position and kept sliding down. Then jammed after only 7-8 uses. Don’t buy the adjustable poles, fixed length poles are solid!

Stay away from this model
Im totally disappointed with quality of my tekking poles Bd distanze flz aluminium. After 5 days of using them I got issue in both poles with holder on the photo.

Broke before first mile
These poles and the company have been a major disappointment. The poles broke less than 1 mile into a run, sending me tumbling to the ground. The “warranty” support gave me an e-gift card for the replacement part and a web page where it was out of stock and basically said to keep refreshing the page until it’s in stock and then purchase it… the problem being that when it was finally in stock (a month later), there was no way to add it to my cart and purchase it. So they said they’d give me a refund, but I got no refund. A month later they said they were closing the support ticket because they hadn’t received the poles – but they said nothing and gave no address to return the poles to! So I have broken poles with no part replacement or refund and I’m out the full purchase price.Bad product, horrible support… stay away
