CAP Barbell ADJUSTABELL Adjustable Dumbbell Weights – Pair | 25 & 55 lb Pair Weight Choice

I couldn’t find reviews for this set of dumbbells online anywhere prior to purchasing, but I took a chance on them because I like the CAP brand, they look quite nice, and the price is very good for this amount of weight. I’m happy to say that I’m glad I took a chance on these instead of some no-name brand!Pros:- The weight selections are sequential from low to high. Some of the no-name brands I was considering had seemingly random weight orders (i.e if you want to go up 5 lbs, rotate 1 clockwise, but for 10 lbs, rotate 2 counterclockwise… which would be confusing and annoying).- The handles, when the dumbbells are docked in their holder, rotate easily but feel solid and click into place for each weight increment. When not docked, there is minimal play and they remain locked into place quite securely. I never feel like I’m holding anything but a normal dumbbell.- Regardless of how many plates you have loaded onto the handles, the dumbbells line up and slide into their base with ease. I haven’t had any failed attempts where I had to lift back up and try again. Just good engineering all around.- The handles are smooth while having a nice texture, paradoxically giving a pretty good grip while not tearing up your palms (though I wear gloves for higher weights just because).Cons:- Not really the product’s fault, but all adjustable dumbbells tend to be a bit wider than standard dumbbells. I haven’t found this to be a huge problem, I just take care not to let them hit each other side-on for fear of breaking them.Other:- I haven’t had them long enough to comment on durability, but I will be sure to update the review if there are any problems.

A Really Good Set
I’ve had 5 different sets of adjustable dumbbells, Anywhere from my 90 lb powerblocks that I’ve had for 25 years to a rather cheap 25 lb set.How do these stack up?Actually I like these the best. They don’t go as high as my powerblocks, but surely are easier to adjust. They also work much better on my spotter hooks (see picture 1)The adjustment is super easy and they go in and out of the cradle nicely, really no hanging up. (see video)The plates are all a nice cast iron.No they are not perfect (even the $ 600.00 high end ones have issues)I would have preferred a moderately knurled handle, but there really is nothing wrong with this handle.One possible concern, the bridge that goes across the plates is all plastic (see picture) This could be the weak point. I would not recommend these for crossfitters that love dropping weights from whatever height. The end plate is metal.They are pretty quite, plates really do not make much noise when using them, My powerblocks make a slight clankity clank noise from the play between the plates, These are a lot quieter.Personally I think for the price these are descent.Note: If I do have any issues with these I will update my review, so if no update assume they are still functioning perfectly fine.

Do not buy this.
I purchased this adjustable dumbbell on September 3rd. Used it fine for 6 weeks. This morning while working out, I picked up one of the dumbells, and noticed some plastic pieces fall to the ground. As soon as I looked down to see what it was, one of the 10 pound weights fell off of the dumbell and landed on my foot. I wasn’t using this product in any extreme way, in fact, I was probably using it quite lightly by most standards. Just spend the money and get a better pair. Of course, the return window closed on October 3rd, so I’m just out the money and a co-pay.

Great product
This pair of dumbbells arrived is separate boxes and were well packaged (a firm styrofoam bed). They were ready to go out of the box. Figured out how to dial the weight by twisting the handles and it was go time. Recommend!
