‘Tremendous-romantic and stuffed with festive spirit. I liked it!’ Mandy Baggot
Might a post-it word actually result in love…?
Sadie does not have time for locating love. She’s too busy as PA for well-known artist Damian Banks. When she’s not arranging exhibitions, she’s organising his dry cleansing or dumping his unending stream of girlfriends.
However when she strikes up an uncommon friendship together with her desk share buddy, she finds a confidante and a brand new potential love curiosity. Drawback is, they’ve by no means really met…
With Christmas simply across the nook, can Sadie put herself first for a change and discover what she’s been searching for all alongside?
Amusing-out-loud, workplace romance from MILLION-COPY BESTSELLER Portia MacIntosh.

I really enjoyed it
I really liked this book. After two disastrous readings (not from the same author) I really needed this.Yes, the ending is a bit predictable, but I liked the writing – it brings a new subject and storyline – I liked the main characters – no annoying, feeling sorry for themselves girls, no too cool for this world guys – and I even liked the charactersâ families. Not to mention it had a Christmas part which is a bonus :)A nice and funny book.

Enjoyable romance with references to classic holiday movies and tales
This novel is a cozy read, especially around Christmas. The trips home for the holidays are nostalgic and make you feel like youâre back home with family, quirks and all, for a good visit.Problems with the novel: Much of the initial description is told from a distance as a summary instead of as though itâs happening in the moment. It feels like an info dump when we read about Damianâs appearance instead of seeing him for ourselves as he walks through a room. The sticky note swapping also seems to be told afterward instead of as itâs happening. The visit to the island with the creepy guyâwhat was the point of that plot line? The last half/third of the book is really the best part. While there are some unknown idiomatic expressions and what appear to be typos, the story is much more immediate and engaging. The dialog is fun, the romance builds nicely, and the HEA is warm and sweet. There are references to hookers, to nude photos sent by women, to possible murders, some alcohol consumption, a couple of kisses with not much description, and some hand holding. Rather PG.

I want a job like Damian
Damian Banks is a famous London photographer, with gorgeous models trying to slide into his DMs. Rich, successful, stylish and handsome, Damian is going through a creative block. Sadie Kirke is Damian’s overworked assistant who does everything for him. Among her daily tasks: breaking up with each of his girlfriends. The best part of the job is the epistolary relationship Sadie has with the unseen Adam, who seems to share the same desk, but only when Sadie isn’t there. We can tell Adam is thoughtful because he keeps the desk tidy and he leaves Sadie candy with his Post-Its. Sadie wants to be more than Post-It pals with Adam; she wants to meet IRL. Sadie snags her dream job, and now she has to find a way to give Damian notice (and to convince Adam to meet up).Much of this book takes place in Marram Bay (that tidal island in Yorkshire that is the setting of other Portia MacIntosh books) at Christmas time. This is where Sadie grew up, and it’s where she and Damian go for Christmas. Why is Damian visiting her parents? That creative block, of course. Also, he avoids spending time with his own family, and he has no friends he trusts more than Sadie. So, off to Marram Bay. Hijinks ensue. Perhaps you can guess the rest. This is a good yarn, well told. The characters are specific and the situations are memorable. The story is well-copyedited, too.

Ok Storyline
The story is obviously predictable from the start and is still a good read. I just didnât like that itâs never explained why he was a terrible boss especially considering he knew how Sadie felt about working with him. Heâs described as handsome but not much as a likeable character.

Still stuck on Portia’s novels
Yet again, just enough truisms to balance out the laugh-out-loud zingers, with the emotional roller-coaster to the inevitable HEA…This marks five of PM’s books read in the last year or so (three of them read twice in eighteen months). I love the masterfully crafted sentences and emotive palette of words used so descriptively, just to be sent suddenly into fits of giggles at a sudden bomb drop of an hilarious burst of humour.I wonder which novel I’ll try next.

Laughed so hard!
Omg, I laughed so hard reading this book. I loved the chemistry between Sadie and her love interests. The conflicts are hilarious, and I laughed so hard throughout the book. A little bit of closed-door spice and some language, but overall, it was a fun read.

Loved the characters & Christmas setting!
I loved this so much. It was different than I expected, but in a good way. It was more Christmas-y than I thought it would be based on the description, and I loved that aspect of it!Sadie and Damian were both really great characters. I loved Damians growth throughout the book – he seemed like a pretty terrible person & boss as the beginning, but it was nice to learn more about him. I also liked Sadieâs self confidence; despite comments about constantly being around models, she liked who she was and the way she dressed/looked.This was a quick, enjoyable read. I liked that Sadie had more than one possible love interest throughout the book, but still ended up with the perfect person for her.

Very good
Is not perfect, but it’s good. I like the overall story, but I can’t say I totally connected with the characters. I don’t think there was enough emotion for me, maybe. It’s a love story, but kinda flat. It’s from Sadie’s POV. It’s pretty clear where the story is going from the beginning, but there are like, quarter turns Sadie makes that just lose me. It’s probably a fairly realistic story, but just lacked… I guess magic for lack of a better word.

I usually base my reviews on whether I would read that book again or not. And this one is a definite you. Interesting characters, especially the quirky ones, and laughter. Do I laugh a lot? Does it make me feel good? If the answer is yes for those questions then count me in for the next book and a possible rereading.

This is only the second novel by Portia MacIntosh that I’ve read, but it sure won’t be the last one. I absolutely loved this book!
