    Stops bleeding razor nicks.
Super great at stopping my razor nicks. I take low dose aspirin every morning(doctors orders) so my face bleeds a lot. The styptic pencil stops it quick!.

Works For Some Things Not Others + Tips
What happened to styptic pencils? My mom used them for our nicks and cuts all the time as kids, but here i am 20years later (in Los Angeles no less) and I couldn’t find them! I looked at CVS, Ralphs, Target-none of them! So when I found this product online, I was really happy. The great part of this product and styptic pencils in general is that they do two things, and they do them immediately, they disinfect and they stop the bleeding. Originally I began the hunt for these pencils for my dogs because every now and then I’ll mess up and pull a Sweeney Todd on their claws by clipping just a little too close. Because their paws will immediately be back on the ground and in the yard I wanted to be sure not to leave them open to infection, and these did a really good job most of the time. The problem is that they have to be the right amount of wet and dry to work properly. If they are too wet, the residue is too diluted to seal and disinfect, and if they’re too dry the powder won’t rub off onto the wound, so that has definitely been a challenge. I haven’t had the problem of the sticks eroding quickly as others have mentioned even though I’ve run them underwater probably more than most, but I do think that they can seal up over time. Meaning even if you do get the right amount of wet and dry, the outside will still be hard and simply not work anymore. Apart from that though, they’re portable and incredibly convenient especially once you get the hang of the wet to dry ratio. The sting can be quite intense (and I have a pretty high tolerance), so you sort of just have to bite the bullet and go for it, but I still wouldn’t recommend this product for smaller children because there WILL be tears, and I mean extra tears on top of the original ones. Overall I would recommend this product for people and pets due to the portability and effectiveness, but if you are looking to seal up a little one’s boo-boo I’d look elsewhere for a less painful option.PROS: Portable, Convenient, Effective (when properly moistened), Can seal small nicks (like claw-tips on dogs or razor cuts) quicklyCONS: Pencils can’t be too wet or too dry which can take a bit to get the hang of, stinging can be rather intense, only works on small cutsTIPS: Great for nicked doggie claws, Do NOT use these for wounds that are bleeding any more than lightly as it will seal the top of the skin and cause the blood to pool under the skin (yuck!), trust me, I learned the hard way…***Did you find this review helpful? Nick Nick what a relief it is!
You can’t find these in stores . Just as they appear, and work great. Purchased these for my dad who had been looking for them in stores for months. He says they exactly what they say they are.

    Got them for my dad
My dad has been using these since as long as I could remember!! He could not find them anywhere in the stores so I found them on Amazon and had them the next day for them! He loves these things, they are durable, help stop bleeding and pain with little nicks from shaving. Perfect size, you can take them easily on vacation with you of you needed to or anywhere. And they are a nice thickness not to thin where they would break easily! My dad was happy! They last him literally forever. But next time he needs more I will just re order on here!! A dollar cheaper on here than in the store from what he usually paid!

    Stops bleeding
While I don’t think you’d go for this if you severed your finger for small nicks/cuts shaving it stops the bleeding quickly. It also burns like crazy.

    Works well
This use to be easily found in the stores but now special orders, go figure! So I went to Amazon and ordered it myself for my son to have at college. Works and does what it was designed to do.
