if youâre a beginner in coding this is the book for you. didnât know a thing about coding but this book really helped me understand the logistics and technicalities of everything. definitely recommend

Meant to be for kids but found it a bit too challenging

If I’m honest I’d have to say there were large sections of the book consisting of source code listing without a breakdown of what was going on. As a beginner the description of some of the concepts needed more illustrations to reinforce things. We purchased several python books, one meant as an intermediate book/reference but found that was better. Maybe I’m old school and comparing it to Petzold or Kernighan and Ritchie but the book didn’t seem to grab the child’s interest as much as the other book. The thing is, we really wanted this book to be the best beginners guide but there were too many gaps in the book content to be usable. I don’t know if it’s partly down to kids already having a bit of exposure to coding from school and needed something more to keep their attention.Edit:We have since revisited this book. Unfortunately the use of fonts is inconsistent. On one of the pages there is a screenshot of some code in an area less than 7cm across! Has this book been reviewed in its final medium? There are grids with information where the text is not justified. Looking for information on who the publisher of this book is shows the final page to reveal it to be a self published Amazon book. Oh. Did I mention the table of contents page numbers don’t match the sections? Seriously needs editing. As it stands, there are better books out there.
