Nice addition to the classroom curriculum
I was pleased to have the chance to read and review this beginner’s coding guide. I currently teach computer science standards, and this resource was an added addition to supplement my lesson plans. It explains the basics of coding so that a younger student can understand the important key terms and concepts. I look forward to seeing additional books such as this one from the author. Great job providing an informative book that assisted me in the classroom setting.

Engaging and diverse
If your child, like mine, enjoys problem solving, logic and critical thinking, as well as learning coding skills, this is the book for them. The activities presented offer a diverse range of skill building. Illustrations are very engaging and consistent throughout the book. Mather provides concise definitions, clear examples, and direct instructions. As an adult, I enjoyed the book as well. (even though I cringe at the thought of math). Even though it is a little pricey in my opinion, this book will not disappoint. Highly recommend.

Easy to understand, logical and a good start for loops
I did not find this book challenging as an adult. I thought the infographics we’re great for kids, definitely not for an experienced adult. Anyone who wants a quick explanation about what loops. conditional loops and basic critical thinking with infographics about how we logically think or need some guidance in teaching coding will want to read this.

bad coding
as you can see from the first puzzle, it is missing a step. it fills in the squares between the monkey and banana, but if this was on a computer, you need a step to move thr monkey out! so every answer for this type of problem is missing a step. I expected more from this book. very disappointed.

Not very engaging
Half the book are mazes and their answers. The rest are poorly drawn problems that follow a very cookie cutter pattern and really are not engaging. The book should have used 5 pages max for the mazes, giving instructions and cut outs and letting the reader construct them. I never found the mazes all that engaging by kids; they do a few, “get it” and are then over it completely.

A good starter
This is a good coding activity book for starters. My kid seemed to know what she was doing but there are times that she got frustrated. Some are very difficult, she said. It’s good that it’s challenging – pushes a kid to think some more.

Good beginning coding book
This book starts with basic coding exercises great for ages stated in description of 6-12 years old but the next set of challenges are for more advanced ages. Two digit multiplication problems are too advance for lower elementary students. Then it moves onto more coding exercises that are suitable for elementary ages. It is a good beginning coding book but may need to skip some of the challenges and make it work for your child.
