Like many people in the fitness industry, I’ve wasted far more money than I’d like to admit on books and guides all which promised me untold riches if I just followed a few simple rules. As usual, these books are full of non tangible nonsense that is nothing more than a 100 page cheerleading session which ultimately a huge waste of time and money. What also astounded me was that most of these books weren’t written by personal trainers or coaches who had any recent experience of working in the industry. And getting advice from someone who’s only success in the industry has been building a large Instagram following is an exercise in futility. This is where Chris’s book stood out for me. Having heard of Chris through various colleagues and friends who had worked with him in professional capacity had nothing but good words to say about him, something which is extremely rare in the fitness industry.Still skeptical from my previous purchases of books written by gurus, I decided to take one last try, and I’m glad I did. This is FAR from a self help book, and instead contains what trainers and coaches need to know rather than pages and pages of filler. The advice is intelligent, well explained and genuinely useful. This goes beyond sales (which I feel many books focus far too much on), but in place of this gives great insights into improving the day to day running of your business and covers the often overlooked areas of business for fitness professionals, such as organising finances, budgets, expenses and the like. It was in fact this advice that has meant I have been able to ride out the Coronavirus catastrophe which shut all gyms, leaving me with no income. If it wasn’t for the advice in 5×5, then I would be very, very deep in the red.If you’re looking to build a decent business within the fitness industry, then ignore the Instagram ads for 6 figure laptop lifestyles and courses from IG influencers who last trained a client a decade ago and get yourself a copy of this book.

I’m still yet to finish the book as I just started it a few days ago, but I can say that I’ve struggled to put this book down! It has dropped some gem pieces of information that I feel is vital for all personal trainers to know.It will help to systemise your personal training business in a way that will allow you to work on your terms and have a great work/life balance.

I enjoyed Chris’s book a great deal.Straightforward, been there and experienced it advice.Nothing is sugar coated, and the book is based on what has worked well in his own PT career. There is no ego, no bragging, it’s just sensible but not always thought of guidance and advice.I look forward to seeing what Chris does next to assist in the professional and personal development of himself and others. I highly recommend this book, either as an established PT or a someone new to the industry, it’s an excellent book.

Ive spent a significant amount of time learning from Chris over the past few years and to see his knowledge and experience in the form of a book is outstanding. With personal training being such a low barrier to entry and such a complicated industry to navigate, Chris has well established a “blueprint” for you to set up your business, your pricing and your finances inside and out to ensure exceptional progress within your business.A must have for any new PT or even the well established

whether you are new or an experienced trainer in the fitness industry you will get a lot of useful information. Chris has done an amazing job here by sharing strategies that he has used for himself with his business. From little experience in the industry, I can see the value that any fitness professional will get from this book. I will highly recommend this book to all the fitness professional as a must read as they need to learn the business side as much as the other aspects.
