    EXCELLENT WATER RESISTANT SAFARI SHIRT
CQR did it again! The exceptional quality of this shirt superseded my expectations and it fit perfectly with a Medium in size. I am 6′ 4″ with a thin build – being 160lbs. The Rip-stop tactical shirt rested well in all the right places – sleeves are long enough for my unusually long arms (I usually have issues with shirts not having enough length). The zipper feature is surprisingly a brilliant idea, which keeps out unwanted bugs while on my expeditions – also keeping in the warmth of your own body temperature, whether it’s hot or cold outside. It does breathe well and the water resistance is outstanding – never stays wet. Recently I wore it at a concert where it decided to rain and this shirt kept me dry. As for the UPF 50+ feature – It apparently works wells as I never got sunburn of any kind – once the Sun came out that weekend. So, don’t hesitate – take my word for it – you won’t be let down. Really the most important thing is, to make sure you get the size that works. I could have gotten a large and it would have worked – but I chose a medium, as I wanted the shirt to be a bit more close fit as opposed to a loose fit. The length of the medium shirt ended just past my waist – giving the shirt a good look while wearing it. I guess the choice of size all depends on how you like clothes to fit on yourself.

Well made, functional shirt. Hope they make more colors and a better supply.
CQR has rapidly become one of my favorite brands of clothes. I’ve been wearing their tactical pants for years and aside from a defective snap they’ve yet to let me down. Seeing they now have shirts of similar style and material I was eager to give them a try. As I always have more need for more pockets and places to clip things. But shirts I’ve ordered from Tesla in the past have tended to run small, VERY small. So I ordered only one (in coyote color), having learned long ago not to trust sizing even in stores, much less online. I’ve bought enough different brand clothes to know the whole “true to size” notation near the top of the page can not be believed. Anybody who’s ever purchased jeans knows you can’t always even trust sizing from the same brand. Fortunately, in this case, it couldn’t have been more true to the usual size work shirt I wear from most brands. Fantastic! Wore it. Washed it. Wore it again. No shrinkage. So I was off to order more.Sadly, after waiting nearly two weeks for prime delivery on the first shirt, they were already sold out of all but one other color in my size: large. It was at least the color I wanted most (navy), but I’d have really liked one in dark green too, which green had completely disappeared from the listing page, giving hope that they might have far more colors back in stock at a later date, like with their tactical pants. As with their pants, if anything the one pet peeve I have with CQR is that they never seem to be able to keep anything in stock.LOVE the shirts. They’re a bit stiff at first, but I’m sure they’ll loosen up like their pants do, after a handful of washings. They loosen up some after just the first washing. I also have seen no indication of fading after only a couple washings. Despite the material being a 65/35 poly/cotton blend, holding this shirt up to the light, it appeared just as breathable as my usual 100 % cotton work-shirts, albeit less flexible. All the anchor points are awesome. They work great for readers or sunglasses and similarly lightweight accessories. I wouldn’t trust hooking up something heavier, like any kind of tool though. I frequently clip an angular LED work light to my shirt. And I’m sure the small loops would tear through quickly, after taking it on and off several times per day. Fortunately, the pockets also have convenient pencil openings at the top, which is great. If there’s any room for improvement – aside from increased color selection and offering a supply that isn’t so frequently out of stock – and I only point this out because, to their credit, CQR has been known to improve their products based on customer feedback in the past – I’d question why they didn’t use mesh against your skin behind the front hidden pockets, like similar shirts do for greater breath-ability. They use mesh under the back flap, but there’s nothing in front to allow air through, other than the gaps between the button down opening. I’m not really sure I see much purpose in having a pocket under a pocket like that in the first place. It’s nice to have options, but the side opening is definitely less practical and it seems that using both at the same time would be too bulky, especially over one’s chest, even more so, considering neither is pleaded. So, it would seem to make more sense if the “hidden” pocket at least doubled for ventilation, which would likely be it’s primary goal. But, I’ve never studied the mechanics of clothing. So maybe they know something I don’t. Maybe such would weaken the integrity of the front. Maybe it’s more effective to trap some moisture for cooling. Or maybe it would increase the price disproportionately. Then again, their short-sleeve equivalent of this shirt also has a tie strap on the sleeve, which seems pretty pointless… On that note, I’d also like to see a couple additional holes in the tie strap for those who want to tie up the sleeves mid bicep, rather than just above the elbow. The only other thing I’d mention is that despite it being the same basic material and brand, the colors are not consistent with CQRs line of tactical pants, at least not the ones I’ve purchased less than a year ago. Regardless, I’d definitely buy these again, at least at this price. Easily one of the best budget brands of clothes I’ve come across. Good function and performance.

UPDATED – Caveat two different models: Officer **** and Commander *****
[Update August 2024 – They changed the “Commander” model, it now only has one side-loading zipped breast pocket.I was coming back to buy a… fifth? sixth? but this is a deal breaker for me.My older review follows: ]Four or five stars depending on the model:**** “Officer”, this one, or***** “Commander”, the other one I also describe below”Officer”Only four stars because of the sweat issue – this shirt is meant for wearing outdoors and is very comfortable for that. Only issue is when you exercise, if you are a human being chances are you will sweat and wherever the shirt touches your body the dry coyote-colored fabric turns to wet dark brown and this is very visible. If you are fishing, it’s OK: just dunk yourself and the problem is gone.Except for that there is very little I would change in this shirt:* The style is perfect for outdoors* The fabric is reasonably comfortable and light for a fast-dry shirt – when camping I just rinse it at night and it’s dry in the morning.* The back flaps with mesh are very comfortable and efficient for ventilation (unless you wear a backpack!)* There are two large breast pockets _under_ the visible breast pockets that open on the side with the opening of the left one towards the right and the opening of the right one towards the left, just as in French military uniforms which I found extremely convenient at the time and was delighted to find here as well – only caveat: they close with velcro instead of a zipper. So essentially two minus: the breast pockets close with a velcro and the color will show sweat.”Commander” style shirtI have three of these shirts and I give them five stars. They have a different configuration:* The fabric is the same nature but the light colored on I have DOES NOT show sweat or not nearly as much* No back flaps but mesh under the arms – less efficient* The breast pockets are zippered (Yey!)* From the third button down they are fake and cover a zipper – originally not sure what to think of it: it is of course easier to put on and remove but the fabric can’t be bent the same way and I was not sure how durable it will be – I can always sew a button in the field, much harder to fix a zipper. After a few years of somewhat heavy usage the zippers are all working perfectly. One advantage of the zipper is that insects can’t crawl in your shirt.* The collar is buttoned down as with the “Officer” one but the button is hidden* The small strap that holds the rolled up sleeves is configured differently and not as easy to attach with the shirt on. This is really a matter of taste.* There are shoulder straps – I could do without but oh, well…To this “Commander” shirt I give five stars.

    Awesome Shirt
I wanted another shirt that had multiple pockets that was not nylon or polyester and this shirt fit the bill. I ironed out the wrinkles and the fit is great. The appearance, color look just as the pictures stated. No smell, breathes well the durability seems good. Great shirt!!

Got a size bigger, fits well
I wear this almost everyday and definitely need to get some more. It’s an easy shirt to just throw on and look put together.

    White was to thin
Got the white and it was to sheer. Darker colors are better. Fit ok.
