    Fun CVC game
This game is perfect for students learning to sound out CVC words and blend them together. By using the spinner, a student will pick up the corresponding number of word slices. If they read them correctly, they can keep all pieces. If they can’t read any/all, they will put them back and keep the ones they read correctly. The goal is to have the most possible. If you pick up a boom slice, you must put your slices back. This game is a very cute and competitive way for students to practice this skill set of words.

    Fun and educational
This game is great. It’s surprisingly hard to find phonics activities that go beyond CVC words but obviously things like blends and digraphs also need to be practiced in order to learn to read. This game makes learning those components fun and easy for my homeschooled kid. I’d say it’s most applicable to around 1st grade but can easily be used in Kindergarten or 2nd grade as well. My 7 year old is reading beyond this level now but still enjoys the game and I still see gains in her fluency and speed with reading these words the more she plays the game. The game is pretty simple but it’s fun and the parts are durable enough that I think it’d be a great addition to a traditional classroom as well.

    Simple learning game
We’ve been having fun with this as a supplement to homework. 8 year old is beyond this reading level, but it’s good practice for her. It’s been more beneficial for our 7 year old who needs extra help with spelling and reading.
The rules are very simple, which is good, because the instructions are pretty bad. They’re printed on the back/bottom side of the game box, and it does not come with an additional paper with instructions. The directions themselves are vague, but again, it’s a pretty easy game to learn and play.
My other (small) gripe is the way the game is packed. The pizza cards are just floating around loose in this very shallow cardboard game box. I just think there could be a better system, like a plastic insert to where the spinner and the pizza cards had their own spots so they could stack neatly. Or maybe even a little drawstring bag to hold them together? Especially with the instructions printed on the bottom of the box ONLY, this was poor planning.
Overall, we like this game, but I think $15 is a little steep for this, especially with the messy way it’s packed. They’re literally just cardboard pieces. This is a simple, low-energy learning game that we can play on weeknights to supplement the kids’ homework.

Great for sight words and teaching to read
When learning becomes enjoyable for children, they are more engaged. This has been an excellent complement to teaching my child to read and count (counting out the pizza slices).
