At first glance,if you want to lift but have no clue what you’re doing, this book is for you!
This is my first review of this book(my second review will be after I’ve completes all levels of the training program).
I love how this book simplified EVERYTHING and clarified the purpose of strength training(also though you how its just not the same thing as body building). There are easy to follow training programs that range from introductory to advance. the addition of easy instructions on how to do the exercises properly just makes this so much more informative. With this book, it seems there’s little to no need for me to hire a personal trainer, it seems i can follow the programs and guidelines of the book and get results. When Im done completing the entire program, i will come back and provide a second review on wheater or not the book was effective for me and to what degree.

This book is a great resource to me and I think would be to …
I bought this book for myself because I am a total “newbie” to strength training. I have never lifted before in my life and was floundering as to know proper form, different exercises, etc. My husband was slightly offended, what with being a guy and all who lifted throughout high school and took classes, but I wanted to gain some knowledge on my own. This book was very informative and even has some workouts printed at the end of the book to help guide you depending on your fitness level. After finishing this book I went out and bought my own equipment so that I could lift in the comfort of my own home. This book is a great resource to me and I think would be to anyone who needs guidance in this department. Good job Mr Kirschen!

More than theory like most books, Its legit and has it all!
Its a great book. The pics are a little grainy but the workouts are clearly defined and the descriptions are on point. Instruction to the point so you mind is not clogged up with blah blah. time to get serious? Get this book. you both will get worn but ripped like a Greek statue!

Good, but . . .
Good Book to get started but . . what was sorely missing was what to do when you are not strength training. Cardio or not? Maybe I missed it? The book directly talks to strength training alone and nothing else. I am going to use the workouts that were presented in the plan, but what else do I do for cardio? I have no idea . . . if this book would have dedicated some pages to this it would have been five star AND even some future references on nutrition. So as far is it being a Bible . . not as it is sorely lacking what I have mentioned and I am a bit disappointed. So now I need to go look for another book to address these issues. Also, the Lat Pull Down description shows the picture of the alternate exercise, not the one described in the book (so if you are a true beginner please note this). Possibly a new title to accurately describe its contents?

Good beginning resource
Exactly what I needed to help with new exercises.

Not very good
The book is ok, but the picture quality is horrible. Hard to see what machine they are actually using.

Perfect Condition
love the book, cleared up a lot of confusion as a beginner and the actually book is good quality

The book looks as if you printed it at home, the cover is fragile and the pictures are in black and white and unclear. The sections on recovery donât explain correctly and it is definitely not worth the money spent.
I have been training for many years now and find this book difficult to understand and not at all adaptive unless you are in an equipped gym.

Tried this book out today. My body hurts! Really good workouts and lots of variety

Loved this book thank you I am missing training with all the gyms being shut at the moment. Focusing on making myself more informed on the subject. Plenty of photos in the book to explain proper form if you’re worried.

Sadly there was no reviews for this book and no possibility to browse it online before I purchased it, or I would not have bothered. Page 23, chapter “equipment and gear” starts like this :
“There’s just no getting around it – much like a carpenter needs quality tools, a lifter has certain basic equipment requirements for productive training to take place.”
Here is the list of that the author considers “basic” (list is copied from the book subtitles of this section, I have not changed anything):
– the power rack
– close hole spacing
– adjustable bench
– power bar
– plates
– flooring
– dumbbells
– squat box
– boards
– bench press bench
– glute ham raise
– cable pulldown
– reverse hyper
– prowler and sled
– personal gear
And here is the sentence that ends this chapter “a few small investments in some proper training gear can make a big difference in the productivity of your training”.
I think the author and I differ in opinion about what is “basic” and what is a “small investment”.
The books shows lots of exercises, in details, going from how to grasp the barbell and how to step away from wherever the barbell hangs, to doing the exercises, to putting the barbell right back onto its rack, or how to sit into the machine, where to put your hands and how to use the machine… which is useless if you do not have access to the machine in question. All the exercises shown in the book require specific machines or heavy equipment, and will be useless to you if you do not have access to a very well equipped gym, which I don’t.
I am returning the book. No use to me. I guess if you have a membership to a very well-equipped gym that somehow has no trainer, you might be interested in that book.
