    Wonderful little book
A great concept to teach how kindness and love affects others and ourselves. It is written for children and my grandchildren love it, but it is uplifting to me too every time I read it to them.

A great beginning of the year read
I start every school year with the Fill a Bucket books. The concept forms a structure for classroom management. Students earn bucket filler slips. These are counted at the end of each week and tallied on a paper bucket (I found these materials on Teachers Pay Teachers). When there are 100 tallies, students earn a pre-determined classroom award. They love it, and parents love reading the slips when students take them home at the end of the week.

    Happiness is up to you
Filling other people’s buckets brings happiness. Helps children think of others, not just themselves. Helps them in learning how to give unselfishly.

    For young children
I believed this was the Have You Filled a Bucket Today? book with a new, redesigned cover. I was wrong. This book is geared more toward very young children in more of a home/family setting. I was wanting it for my 2nd grade class. I will have to order the correct version of the book.

So, I bought this book because I thought it might be a nice concept for the kids to learn about empathy. And it is. The bucket idea floated around in our home for a few days. However, the book, as a book, is horrid. It’s just a description of the concept. There is no hero with a conflict, there is no reason why anyone’s buckets should be filled, there’s just several pages saying:”We all have buckets! They get filled and they empty!”That’s no way to teach children anything, at least not something you hope will stick with them.Waste of money.

The order took some time to arrive but it is understandable with the pandemic going on, everyone is ordering on line. The book is small and was easily mailed to other people. I like the content of the book. It is a quick read and the children like it.
