Great setup and practice
My son, who hates homework, likes this book. The passages are interesting because it moves through the little story in small sections with questions. He did a little more than I asked because he wanted to find out how it ended. It’s very good reading comprehension practice and not difficult.

GREAT RESOURCE FOR TEACHERS!
I USE THIS AS MORNING WORK OFTEN OR DURING SMALL GROUP AS A WAY TO KEEP STUDENTS FAMILIAR WITH STANDARDS THAT HAVE ALREADY BEEN TAUGHT AND EVEN AS A WAY TO INTRODUCE SKILLS THAT MAY NOT HAVE BEEN TAUGHT YET. GREAT SPIRAL REVIEW.

Decent
Homeschooled this year because we moved states. Used these books for review this spring to make sure there weren’t any glaring holes in my kids’ education (I’m older than today’s common core standards). These books cover what we went over this year. They are definitely a “work on a separate piece of paper” sort of workbook, on account of there not being a ton of extra space per page to “show one’s work”, but that’s not a big deal. It’s definitely not good for honing one’s skills, as there are only a few questions per concept, but fine as an assessment tool.

Great for Morning Work!
This book has great learning activities for morning work or for a warm up. I strongly recommend starting to use it at the beginning of the year. The skills scaffold and begin on a lower level that is appropriate for the beginning of the year. I was pleased to see comprehension as well as grammar skills being practiced within this book. The first four days include practice of a particular skill and the fifth day is a quiz on those skills. Great way to acquire a classroom grade!

Good Daily Practice for 4th Grade
I bought this book for a 4th grader who has challenges with Lang. Arts.I like this 3rd grade book as it’s not very easy or difficult. It has alternating week for comprehension and grammar, which is good.I like the Common Core 4 today series for daily practice.

Home Schooled Common Core
I am not a fan of Common Core but this workbook is not as controversial as I was led to believe. Perhaps because the topics used are general in nature and not related to political or social issues. I did notice that there are many ethnic names included not the standard Susie, Jim, Mary, and John. As a conservative, retired, elementary school teacher I found this workbook to be within the guidelines on sound educational material that can be beneficial for home schooled children.

Very nicely organized
I like the way the Comprehension is split up into many parts. It teaches the students to read each line and interpret it.

Tedious and strictly geared toward State Standards; not a good home school resource.
There may be a place for a workbook like this, but even in a formal classroom setting it would be tedious at best. The book is broken down into weeks and for each week there’s a box at the bottom of the first page that outlines which Common Core State Standards (CCSS) will be covered in that lesson. Mind you each week references at least 10 of these state standards, sometimes even 20! Even a public school teacher would find it tedious to look up all these standards every week. If you’re home schooling (or teaching in general) you’re better off finding a book that actually teaches the standards as you go, not one that simply references their numbers. Unless you’re very proficient with the plethora of state standards there’s far more efficient ways of teaching this material.
