One tool to rule them all
I’m a field service engineer and work with a lot of tools. The first thing I noticed about it is how hefty it is, the pliers open automatically, and it’s durable. I would beat up the knife and the latch that hold it in place is secure. I have no doubts it would close on me. This thing is built like a tank. It has been run over my a vehicle, ATMs falling on it, and survive working out in the rain and snow with me.If I need a tool. This is the only tool I’ll need for a repair. I love my gerber multitool because it is able to do so much and I know it can get me out of a bad situation. Two things that would improve it is that I wish the screw driver had a magnetic tip, and they could have smooth out the sides a bit. While rotating the screw driver or Philip head the sides can dig into your skin a bit.

    Sturdy
I have other multi tools and Swiss army knives, but I’m pretty sure this will be my favorite. Mostly I wanted the pliers and they are nice size and grip well. The wire cutter works well too. The knife is kinda small , but pretty sharp. The scissors are sharp as well and cut though paper easily. It’s always nice to have screw drivers around. I think one of the things I like the most is that the tools locks into place. No more frustration of having the tool you need move while you are trying to use it. The clip is nice and I wore it on my belt at work. Hardly noticed it was there. The clip is long too so you don’t have to worry about it coming loose. Sturdy feel and not to heavy. I bet at some point I’ll even use the 1 and a half inch ruler on something small.

Good value, decent quality, fits basic needs
I picked these up to make a bunch of 6x12in “handy travel stuff” canvas pouches for myself & friends. I always end up accidentally forgetting about my multitool or pocketknife or scissors when I go through airport security, or I forget to bring or end up losing pens or a scarf or my notebook, or I end up having to use a shoelace for a makeshift clothesline when paracord would have been just the thing, or I space out bringing a lighter or a flashlight — you know, all that stuff that you bring and lose on the trip, or stuff you forget to bring but would have ended up coming in super-handy at one point or the other, or stuff that inconsistent airport security screening will let pass in one country but clamp down on in another for some unknown reason. If I’m not traveling around on vacation or business, it’d be handy stuff to just have in the car. So it turns out that I wanted some kind of inexpensive but reliable multi-tools to put in these pouches and I spent a day looking through the options. I’d recently had a Gerber multitool confiscated by airport security in Edinburgh, so I figured that I’d check out all the other brands for a replacement, including the AliExpress chinesium ones, but when I went through the list of tools and looked at the quality of steel and construction, I kept coming back to Gerber. The value proposition of this multi-tool is really good. You get enough tools to fit most common requirements, decent steel and a reasonable (pretty cheap, all considered) price. I bought four of them. They don’t need to be especially rugged, though they are substantial, and they won’t likely get more than a week’s use if they do become necessary. It was just the thing for my little pouches and if one should get lost it won’t break the bank to replace.

Affordable and does *exactly* what a multi-tool is supposed to do
There’s not a lot of bells and whistles on the Gerber Suspension-NXT and that’s a good thing. I feel like a lot of multi-tools have strayed too far from their “general purpose” original design. Now you can get multi-tools with almost every accessory imaginable on it. They’ll probably start making them with power tools installed, if they haven’t already. And as such the price goes up, especially when a company decides to make a boutique multi-tool with 30+ accessories including hand forged knives, unobtainium springs, hydraulic rescue tools, lensatic compass, google translator, etc. None of this is what a multi-tool was designed to be used for. If you need a specialty tool, go use that tool. Don’t try to cram it into a multi-tool that wasn’t designed for such things. The Gerber Suspension has the bare-bones tools you may find yourself needing on the fly and nothing more. Pliers, Phillips and flat head screwdriver, a partially serrated knife, small pry bar/nail remover w/ measurements on the one side and a filing surface on the other, scissors, bottle opener (and let’s be honest here, for a majority of people this will be the most used tool) and a couple other tools built into each foldable arm (of which there are 7 total… 4 on one side, 3 on the other). It has a belt/pocket clip and is the right size for EDC in your pocket. If you need a more permanent carry solution, you can find kydex holsters from multiple sources.A multi-tool has always been a designed for quick fixes of the multitude of daily items that get stuck/come loose/too tiny for fingers/need to be opened/etc **AND/OR** “let me tweak something real quick until I can come back with a proper tool”. The Geber Suspension fits this role perfectly. If you find yourself wanting to buy a 200 dollar multi-tool, pause and ask yourself why. If the answer is to fix something specific, then you need a specific tool. If the answer is, as it should be, to use it for general handy work and small fixes on the go, then why spend that much money? Some problems specific to this multi-tool (or at least the one I got). The first one I noticed is that the spring in the pliers feels gritty and a bit weak. It still bounces the pliers open, which is great and you need pliers to close, not spring open, but it felt lackluster. Two, when closed there’s some wiggle in the two halves. Like, when it’s closed and you hold one side and then other, you can wiggle them slightly up and down. This goes away the moment it’s opened. While these two issues are very minor, it doesn’t give me unshakable confidence in it’s durability over time. It’s still built rock-solid but maybe some of the tiny screws aren’t tight enough (hey, something you’d need a multi-tool to fix!). But for 40 bucks, I’ll just buy a new one if this falls apart eventually, which doesn’t feel like any time soon. The arms are also super tight at first but a little oil and opening and closing them will fix that. Still better than being too loose.Don’t buy bougie multi-tools. Get this one instead.

    great tool
I work in commercial glass and use this tool almost everyday. The quality is beyond reproach and the blade holds it’s edge. I can literally walk up and fix a door, door hardware and many other tasks with just this tool.

    Great multitool! Great price!!!
I bought another multitool from another company, I payed many times the price than I did for this Gerber, and it broke during regular use after less than two years. I debated sending it back to the manufacturer, but the cost for shipping was higher than the cost of my new Gerber. The Gerber seems stronger and of equal or greater quality. I’m super happy with it, but only through the test of time will I really know…. I’ll keep y’all posted…

It is functional, the blade kind of small but good for my needs, not extremely sturdy but not flimsy either. All in all a good piece with basic tools, light weight and not pricey.
