Multisensory Learning
I’ve used this now for about a week with various grade levels (K-5) during their reading intervention time. Students like the squishy surface of the magnetic tiles. I like that the materials are contained on the trays. The activities included are great, and it’s easy to use the mats/boards for other activities as well. The use of hands on materials for students helps them learn and retain information, so I like that there are so many different ways that we can use these.I am struggling with organizing all of the materials. I see 14 different small groups of students over the course of the day, so staying organized is essential. While there are fantastic plastic pouches with zippers for the magnets, once they are all popped out of the foam sheets, it becomes a bit much to manage. We tried putting the magnets back into the sheets to keep them organized, but after several times going in and out of the sheet, they didn’t all stay in very well. Students also can’t always put the letters back in order in the time that we have (20-25 minutes per group), so I find myself spending a bit too much time trying to organize materials between groups. If I used this with one group of students only, I’m sure I’d find an organization system to work. I just haven’t been able to yet.That said, the activity mats are all lightweight but seem durable as long as students are not folding or rolling them. Magnet tiles will not stay put on the mats if the tray is bumped or picked up unless there are a lot of tiles on there holding down the activity mat. This isn’t an issue for me, but it’s worth noting. The one thing that I still need to address before I can use these trays with students again though is the fact that they make an awful noise on the table if they are moved at all. I’m going to hot glue some felt to the bottom of the trays to keep them from screeching, but that noise was certainly loud and disruptive as the plastic grated along the table. If you use these on carpet or on felt placemats, it shouldn’t be a problem though.I think every elementary school classroom should have a set like this, and parents who homeschool would also find the materials beneficial.

This phonetics learning set has been an amazing tool to help continue my sonâs learning outside of school and through the summer. Itâs easy to use and the directions are clear. He really has enjoyed it!

This is a great addition to my Kindergarten class. I have loved using it to present CVC words and can’t wait to challenge my students further as the year goes on. Fantastic for small group and love that it has 6 different coloured boards.
