My son would drag his arms to reading, not with this!
My son has severe dyslexia and auditory processing issues. Reading is very hard for him, often he was stressed and unhappy with learning to read. This set comes with books, booklets and CD. I decided to purchase the app subscription on my own for more enforcement.My son asks me. Are we going to do hooked on phonics? This comes with stickers for completion of reading activities and books that enforce the lessons. It also had the dvd which my son wants to watch over and over. I ended up getting all the sets and creating my own hooked on phonics bundle since he liked it so much. He is 7 years old and we are starting at the beginning making sure to fill in missing gaps. If you are wanting to help your child with reading, can be patient with them, they will get it down. My son can now read some basic site words and short stories.Before we started he could read nothing Even with his difficulties he tries his best to read. Sounds are something he and I struggle with, but this has helped make learning to read more fun than anything.The key is frequent, consistent, motivating practice. Concepts of the material is perfect
Quality of material is just fine. I love the amount you get in the set. The pictures that go along with the words is what we needed for a jump start and the lessons give really good information for practice. We havenât even gotten through the âwork bookâ part and she has already started reading short sentences (about 1 month to the day of the purchase). It is incredibly helpful for stay at home families. Good buy. Will buy more.

I’ve been using Hooked on Phonics with a variety of children of different ages in the education system for a couple of decades and I have found it to be very effective with kids who had fallen behind in the regular curriculum. This edition is the third and it is a considerable upgrade from the last one. Level 3 and 4 correspond to level 1 in the last system. It is very nicely laid out with more colour, better stories. Even though I still have my well used full second edition, I found it very worthwhile to upgrade to this one. Now retired, I’m using it for grandchildren who are out of school due to the Covid lockdown. I’ll be checking out the next levels once the kids get through these.
