Awesome book, don’t listen to negative reviews
I am glad I bought this book despite the few negative reviews. Fist off the writing and rhyming complaints are silly. Its not a doctor sues book for cripes sake. I had no issues with reciting the words written. The book does a excellent job being written in an age appropriate way and giving great advice on managing your anger. It also points out that you can feel angry and sad at the time which is important for kids to understand. I see nothing wrong with how the book is written. As far as another complaint I saw in the reviews about the ending, there was nothing wrong with it. At the end the boy thinks over what his mom said and decides she was right. He then goes to her and apologizes to his mom. She tells him she’s proud and rewards him with a toy. Why would you not reward that behavior? You’d want your child to repeat those behaviors in the future right? I have absolutely rewarded my daughter for stuff like this. Because she remembers those rewards we haven’t had any meltdowns at the store anymore. My sister is a child therapist and something helpful she has pointing out is that you have to react immediately or very shortly after. So if your kid is naughty its not appropriate to put them in time out the next day right. Same with rewards, you see good behavior then praise or reward that child right then and there.Definitely give this a go, I’d recommend it. It kept my 6 year old daughter engaged and she isn’t really into books. She didn’t even give up halfway through like she sometimes does. The illustrations are beautiful and I think kids can relate with the storyline. I know I could relate to wanting a Koala!

Good lessons to learn for everyone because we all get angry sometime or other.
Nick was really excited about going to the zoo, but it wasn’t long before he was about ready to blow his top. Fortunately the zoo animals had several suggestions for him to try. (Also fortunate that they could speak human.) Nick tried all the suggestions – some more than once, and he finally calmed down.Read this with your young readers. One day the suggestions might be helpful for your family. Also see what transpired between Nick and his mother when they got back together.Just a note: It concerns me that Nick was apparently wandering around the zoo alone – especially if he is so angry that he isn’t paying attention to things around him that could be unsafe and even dangerous. She may be watching him, but we can’t tell that from the illustrations. We only see Nick and the animals. Mom doesn’t show up again until after Nick has calmed down. I would have had to tell my children not to wander off but rather stay where we can see each other. It’s important. It’s also why there are 4 stars rather than 5 of them.

    Great Story for Kids
This story was perfect, perfect, perfect! The colors are bold and beautiful, it is a catchy rhyming story so it tends to always draw a child’s attention if read right, and it is set in a zoo with animals which is also brilliant because what child doesn’t love animals? Especially talking ones!! My grandson is 6 and has anger issues since he was an infant; yes an infant?! Even his pediatrician couldn’t believe it when he seen him throwing a tantrum in his carrier b4 he could walk or talk… but he really engaged in this story and also commented on all the things I pointed out, like he didn’t know monkeys knew how to do yoga when they get angry or do the deep breaths like grandma teaches him!! That’s cool he said!! A must read to kids with anger issues… 10 stars if you ask me for the little guys and girls

    This actually helped!
Gave my child 2 exercises to do when he’s angry or sad. We actually get up to do them when the page comes up in the book Every night when we read it. It takes 3 min, gets my 3 year old more tired, n reinforces/helps him (n me) to remember what he can do when he gets angry or really sad.

“I Am Stronger Than Anger” Presents Solid Anger Management Concepts for Young Children
I really liked this book and I don’t think there are enough of this kind of story dealing with a child who has issues with anger management. It is not only helpful to read to a child with this problem but also for the parent who is looking for ways to help their child. The artwork is colorful and fascinating. I believe it works well to use one of the animals, a parrot, to engage with the angry child to reason with him and help diffuse his anger. Using the parrot along with the mother’s efforts to get the child to think about how to deal with this strong emotion is very effective. It was especially meaningful to engage the child to think of the koala that he wanted to take home from the zoo, to consider that he needs to stay with his family at the zoo was very effective — again reasoning with a young child I think is a good tool to help them to learn to evaluate if their desires are really valid. Overall I felt the book gave parents dealing with this issue with their child some ways to address the situation when it occurs. Exercise is really the most significant key to calm down a child — it’s gets their angst out. I highly recommend this book.
