Sweetest bed time story
This is probably my favorite book to read to my 2 year old at night. Itâs such a sweet little book and the rhymes are so much fun. My daughter loves all the animals and it has a few she hasnât seen in too many books before. The sounds are so much fun for my daughter to make. This book is in our nightly rotation of bed time books and my daughter definitely notices if we donât get to it. This book is so much fun for the whole family.

The book has a lovely history ideal for bedtime. Cute drawings and fun rimes (a bit hard to read when you are just as sleepy as your kid). My kid really connected to the history from the first time I read it to him. Also, it brings lots of animals to learn.

Frequent buyer –
I have bought this book second time. My toddler loves it. I bought it when my daughter was 9 months old. She loves looking at the pages, hearing me read it to her. This book is perfect for little ones as it has one line per page, which is just enough considering their attention span per page is just as long.I will highly recommend this book.

IF ANIMALS KISSED GOOD NIGHT imagines the bedtime rituals of various animals. The story is sweet, the art beautiful, and the examples of onomatopoeia, alliteration, and rhymes perfect for read-alouds, but what really struck me was how good this book is as a steppingstone to harder, more sophisticated books. Though still very much a book for young children, this narrative uses an expanded vocabulary, with words (mostly verbs) that are not typically common in everyday language (I.e. prance, sway, smooch). There are also a pair of sloths mentioned on the first page and referenced twice more before the end. These callbacks help to illustrate character permanence. Thereâs a whole series of these books by Ann Whitford Paul and David Walkerâhighly recommended.Find more of my childrenâs book recommendations on instagram @thechildrensbookcritic!
