    Who Knew?
A most enlightening book! I read this over the course of 5 or 6 bedtime sessions and thoroughly enjoyed not only the information about the gut, but also the sprinkled in humor. I would strongly recommend this book to anyone who has a history of “intestinal complaints” as it may provide some pointers on how to address them. This is also a good documentary that goes along with the book.

An easy-to-understand tour of the human digestive system, graced with the neatest illustrations.
It was easy to understand, especially for a medical book, and I loved the illustrations. Usually, medical book illustrations are somewhat on the Yucky side especially when dealing with intestines, gut flora, and the by-products of digestion that end up in the toilet. Nothing like that here. The illustrations get the job done while being pleasant to look at, and not cutesy or patronizing either.

Nice info, I wonder how much to believe
I gave only 3 stars because the info, if true, is very interesting. But the reason I wonder how much to believe is that I was born in Spain decades ago, raised there, and in all my time there I only saw 1 squat toilet. In a very old house. 1. The books mentions this as if it is common in Spain and France to have those type of toilets. Then it mentions the dangerous pathogens in India and Spain, as if they are about the same. Which makes me wonder, has this person ever been to Spain at all? Or what sources have been used for this comments? And of course, on what I know being so wrong, I wonder, how wrong is this book on the info I do not know about?Sounds interesting, but it could all be wrong anyway.

Loved this book and have recommended it to my family and friends. It is very informative, learnt things about my innards that I’ve never heard about … but its put across in a entertaining very ‘readable’ way. Would say this is a book everyone should read and taught in schools to give children an idea of how their guts work and more importantly how to look after them!
