Fabulous set of books for any budding earth scientist
I am absolutely thrilled with this purchase! The three books in this set cover distinct categories in earth science and are laid out in a format that includes large font, frequent photographs, non-fiction reading tools such as maps, charts, graphs, glossary, index, further resources, and table of contents. The Geology for Kids book cover far more than one would expect with the very broad âEarth beneath your feetâ descriptor and includes landforms and extreme weather that affects those landforms. Each chapter in this book includes an experiment that demonstrates a facet of what was just learned. Most can be done with items found readily at home and require varying amounts of adult help from none to a great deal. The later chapters guide young rock hounds in collecting, studying and classifying their own rocks. The Gems book includes charts and maps and pictures of gems that is fun to browse through. Fossils is similar in layout to the Geology book but doesnât have quite as many hands on activities. The dinosaur section will appeal to even those preschool-aged children who can already correctly identify their dinosaur toys.Aspects of all three of these books can be used by caregivers with their preschool children who love non-fiction or as a way to interest them in something more than Paw Patrol! The photographs and activities have broad age appeal. Students who are in grades 3-6 will be able to use these books independently and I recommend that science classrooms and libraries serving these ages get these and other âJunior Scientistâ books available.

So much information!
Wow – this set is a lot more comprehensive than I was expecting, especially as it is marketed toward ages 6-9. The books are all filled with information and even though it is presented in an accessible way, there is A LOT of it. The books are all written by different authors, so the writing style and presentation differ slightly from one to the next, but there is some cohesion among the three. Each one includes activities/experiments that can be done to better understand the concepts in the book, and these are even good to increase adults’ comprehension. In many cases, adult assistance is recommended due to use of the stove. These books all include full color pictures and diagrams that help to put these concepts into perspective in the real world. Also, it’s important to note that all three of these books come in a hard box (good for gifting), but the books themselves have hard covers. They are of very high quality, but they’re definitely not hardback books. The information presented in these books is best for readers who appreciate technical details, especially if they’re younger. Six seems kind of a stretch, but for kids who are really into science, this is an excellent collection.

Classic resource books – great for a curious child who loves to read!
The Junior Scientist Geology set reminds me of the classic library books of the past. The books have a simplified look and primarily use real-life images. I’ve picked up other educational books that are overcrowded and cluttered, which can be overstimulating for a child. The one thing I would say is the suggested age feels off to me. I feel for a 6-7-year-old, it would be better if a parent read the books to them. The books seem better suited for the 8-12-age range. Even if an older child might have learned about some of these concepts earlier, these books are a great trio for their resource library – even I was able to brush up on my dino and mineral knowledge!Additional note: I think the company would benefit from removing the age range from the box cover as well.

Excellent set of kidâs geology books
Iâm a nerdy rock collector and I am trying to encourage my 7 year old to become interested in geology and rock collecting. These books are a great help in getting to that end goal. They are informative but accessible. Lots of colorful photos and illustrations about the rock cycle. They introduce basic geological terms and defines them in terms that are easy to understand for young kids. I love all the science books from Junior Scientists. We have several and they are all great.

well-written and engaging
I was thrilled to find the Junior Scientists Geology Book Box Set. This set includes three books, each focusing on a different aspect of geology: fossils, gems, and geology. The books are well-written and easy for children to understand, with colorful illustrations and simple explanations. The books are comprehensive and provide an overview of the Earth’s structure, plate tectonics, and natural disasters. My kids enjoy learning about earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanic eruptions.Overall, the Junior Scientists Geology Book Box Set is an excellent resource for children who are interested in geology and related topics. The books are easy to understand and engaging, making them a great addition to any homeschooling curriculum or as a gift for a child who loves science. I highly recommend this set!

Age Range is Fair, but Lower End Will Need Adult Help Reading.
I got this set of books for my 7 y/o. I’d say these books are probably above average reading level for her age, but I think the age range listed on the books is fair. These books are still easy to understand, even if you have to have an adult help you with some of the reading. The books are all put together well and have engaging activities and pictures. My child is in 2nd grade and they have been learning about rocks, minerals, and such. My daughter was already interested in gems and geology to begin with. Fossils also peak her interest. That’s why this is a great set.
