Best book for learning about the body
I am in love with DK’s My First books and this book about the body is no exception. These books are perfect for 9 month olds to about 3 years. My 16 month old has always been very vocal but I strongly believe that these books have been a huge help for her growing vocabulary!!! She loves to sit and point at the pictures and name them and when she gets them right she is so proud of herself. I got this book because I wanted a book that would help me teach my daughter parts of the body and it has been perfect!! What I love most about this book is:- it has real pictures of babies and toddlers which I think makes this book engaging for even the youngest of babies who love to look at faces- it has close up pictures making it easier to point out different parts as well as different angles to see those body parts from both sides- it is more than just a book for learning body parts. It also helps teach verbs (what your body can do), adjectives (curly hair/ straight hair), emotions, food, clothes, and even counting!- it is the perfect size for small hands! My daughter loves to get this book off the shelf and flip through it on her own- it is the perfect size to fit in a diaper bag! These books have been a lifesaver and the best way to keep an active toddler happy and still at church.- it is very inexpensive for the quality of book you are getting (sturdy board book) and for the number of pages (30)

    Building connections
This book is such a great option for young kids to see other kids and to mimic what they are doing. My daughter always picks this book. She loves to point to the eyes and then find her eyes. It’s a great book to help parents teach their child body parts.

My 18 month old is obsessed with this book.
Our toddler absolutely loves this book and brings it to us to read all the time. It has great pictures and the facial expressions are very engaging for little ones. The title is a bit confusing….my FIRST body…As opposed to? 🙄 but that’s not a big deal and barely worth mentioning

    Toddler Encyclopedias
I love these books and the body book specifically. I’ve found that many of the baby body books are only about 5 pages and don’t provide enough information. Books geared towards older children have too much going on, which isn’t great for toddlers still learning word. This book is perfect for 18-24 months or any child that is just starting to learn words. The book actually goes a little beyond parts of the body too. Here’s an example. There’s one page in the book that shows how kids grow. It’s pictures of a different child at 6 weeks, 8 months, 12 months, 2 years, and 3 years. My 21 month old was calling all children “babies,” so I used this page to explain the difference between the words, “baby” and “toddler.”

Good but could have been better.
I bought this book to use with 2-3 year olds as an introduction to body parts and their names. In some ways the book is a bit too advanced for the age group, but in many ways it does meet our needs better than other board books that I have seen.Pros:1. Real photos.2. Board book with lots of pages.3. Instantly engaged and interested my 17 month old son – he flipped through it multiple times in one day and paused very contemplatively when looking into babies’ faces.4. For the most part, the pages are devoid of background or scenes so the animals themselves can be clearly seen.5. Perfect size for my toddler’s little hands.6. Includes a lot more topics than expected: emotions, actions, senses, dressing for the seasons, counting, daily activities, etc.Cons:1. The “line to vocab word” format does not seem to translate well for toddlers or babies. I don’t think they get that it is pointing to something.2. No hazel eyes represented.3. Dark hair = photo of medium brown hair?4. Light hair and straight hair both with image of blondish hair – should have used an Asian girl for straight hair instead for diversity .5. Not convinced the baby facial expressions match their label – surprised and tired seemed flip-flopped.Overall, I like the book and so does my son. Sure it could be improved upon, but it is the best I have found in a board book.

    Perfect for baby
My 17-month-old is OBSESSED with this book. I found it at the library a few weeks ago after she started showing interest in babies, and after renewing it several times we decided it was well worth the low price to purchase one to keep. She brings it to me to read her probably 10 times a day, front to back. She points at all of the pictures and mimics what she sees. She carries it around with her everywhere she goes. Sometimes she just sits and flips through the pages on her own. Well done DK!
