These have to be the lightest New Balance sneakers I’ve ever purchased. These felt and wear great. I purchased these because the Puma’s purchased two months ago were defective (arch at the heel and slides off). I worked out in these NB and found myself wearing them the rest of the day due to their comfort. I am contemplating buying another pair as a spare. If I had to critique the sneaker, it would be that the toe hold, looks plastic which makes me question their durability. Other than that, the inserts and feel of the sneaker are awesome. THE ONLY ALL BLACK CASUAL/WORK SNEAKERS YOU’LL EVER NEED
Previously I bought these in the brown suede variant that were labeled H20 resist. They weren’t water resistant at all. I wore those down to the last tread of the soles, and they lasted about a year as my daily work sneakers, so no complaints. This new pair in the all black color with the synthetic “Cordura” upper material seems more snug and supportive than the previous ones. At $50 with wide sizing options, this seems to be the BEST New Balance shoe on offer in terms of price, comfort, and durability. I walk 20+ miles a day for work, and these are perfect for me comfort wise.

Versatile/Comfortable Shoes
This is a great shoe for many things. The fit runs quite big in a sense that itâs capacity is big but not the shoe size. For the value, the shoes seems a bit cheap looking with the plastic/rubber molding everywhere. Theyâre light shoes and seem perfect for lasting a while. They should be cheaper, knowing china makes them for around $12-20

Not as good as previous version V5
Toe box is stiff and tight. Got V6 in same size and width as previous 4 pair of V5s. Tight/stiff toe box makes them feel smaller. Instead of a patch of leather for a toe kick, the mesh is impregnated with solid rubber or plastic. Less cost, less comfortable. The block soles are flatter, which is good in my opinion, but they have less “waffle” than before if that’s important. I like the NB brand. I don’t like saving money at the cost of comfort. They are light weight for a rough country running shoe. Durability unknown, but V5 durability was excellent. Except as noted, fit properly and are less comfortable than previous NBs right out of the box.

Good for Wide Feet
I got these as a gift for my dad to wear to his chemo appointments. His feet are very swollen and his old sneakers tend to hurt him after wearing them for an hour or so, so lately he has been requesting his shoes be bought in a wide. Typically, I get him the Sperry brand because they offer wide shoes that look nice, but I decided to try these New Balances this time. At first glance, they didnât look like they would work because of the laces and how tight they looked. After doing some loosening of the laces nearest the toe box, he was able to slip them on with ease. The strap at the heel was a nice touch so that he can have some support putting the shoe on while leaning down. I donât know how sturdy the strap will hold up, but so far he has no issues with it ripping. One major con to the shoe is the toe support lettering that is very visible on certain color selections of the shoe. I donât think anyone wants to walk around with that advertised on their shoe, so I would not get this for someone younger or for the fashion guys. I would suggest looking at the photos for each color option to see if that lettering is visible because it was not visible on some of the options. The shoe looks great and has a sporty appearance, but also a sleek appearance. This was a plus because he can wear them and not feel like he has on âold man shoesâ. Overall, these were a great inexpensive buy for an older man with swollen feet.
