Hello volume, goodbye greasy hair!
This review is for the Nuva Botanicals âDry Shampoo Powder NON-Aerosol with Lavender Oil â Volumizing, Oil-Absorbing, Easy-Blending, Hair Refresher. (0.42 oz each, 4 pack).â
This dry shampoo powder is great! I have long, fine, straight hair that tends to be oily at the roots and dry at the ends. Dry shampoo is super helpful, although itâs often aerosol and heavily perfumed, unlike this one. Iâve tried another âpowder puffâ style dry shampoo in the past, and it worked well, but this Nuva Botanticals one is even better. I usually have to wash my hair every other day. With this one, I put it on about 36 hours after washing my hair, and it worked well for the full day. The next morning, my hair was even better! I was shocked! I have now gone 72 hours since washing my hair and you’d never even guess. It gives my hair more texture and volume, as well as eliminating the oil. As with most dry shampoos on dark hair, it does tend to make my hair look slightly âdustyâ, but itâs not bad and definitely no worse than traditional aerosol dry shampoo. It does have a mild, pleasant scent â it includes panax ginseng extract and lavender essential oil, though the smell is a bit more citrusy than I would expect based on the ingredients. The small size is super portable and great for camping/travel. Overall, very happy with it.

Very simple principle, neat application method.
Previously I had only used arisol dry shampoo, so I was excited to try this out.
The applicator you get is really small, so you can fit it in your purse. There is powder in the base which comes out of a thin makeup sponge applicator. There are quite a few ingredients listed, but corn starch is a major component in the mix. If you’ve ever cooked with corn starch, you know it absorbs liquid really well, and that’s exactly what this product does; It powders onto your hair and absorbs the oil very well. You could even re-use the applicator. I feel that this works better than arisol dry shampoo because you have a lot more control over when and where you apply it.
I had early access to this product, and the seller hasn’t listed a price, but I would say it is a great value for around the $5 price point (and maybe a bit more). The materials aren’t expensive, but not everything needs to be in order to be effective. It’s a very clever design and I feel it’s more natural, more effective, and less wasteful thsn arisol dry shampoos.

First Time Using Dry Shampoo
I had somewhere to go yesterday and didn’t have time to wash and dry my hair. I usually wash my hair at night every 2-3 days and I was toward the end of day 2 so it wasn’t at its best but not looking really oily either. I just knew, however, that it was flat an weighed down from the natural oils that weren’t as obvious so I figured it was a good time to try this dry shampoo.
I was hesitant at first because it said it has lavender oil. I don’t like lavender very much and I’m very sensitive to the smell – this did not have a strong lavender smell at all. In fact, I didn’t smell lavender at all. Which is great even if you do like lavender because I really don’t like to use a lot of scented products. The instructions for opening were very easy to follow. I was very surprised at how easy this was to apply and not very much came out at one time. I was worried I was going to have all this white powder on my hair that I was going to have to get rid of, but nope – I didn’t notice it at all (I am blonde however).
What I didn’t know is that dry shampoo can make your hair feel dry, stiff, and almost like straw. That was a little weird at first for me and I didn’t like it but on the other hand, it actually gave my hair more fullness that when I pulled my hair back into a bun, it wasn’t flat up against my scalp either. I looked like I had thicker hair. It did wash out fine but I found I had to use more conditioner up on my scalp which I normally don’t do.
I’d definitely recommend this product, but I wouldn’t suggest using it too frequently.

I really like this dry shampoo. Although it is a small travel size container, the applicator is super easy to use to clean up or add volume to your roots. After removing the plastic insert inside the bottle (which you can put back afterwards to keep it from leaking in your bag) you simply âbounceâ the applicator over the exact spots on your scalp you want the dry shampoo. Then you can either brush your hair out to distribute the powder, or if you have a curl pattern like I do, simply rubbing your fingertips on the roots will have the same disappearing and blending effect. This worked so well, I swapped it for my existing handbag dry shampoo with a spray applicator because I like that this has a no mess applicator with no chance of overspray on your clothing if youâre already dressed. Very pleased with how this works. Happy hairstyling!

It works ok
My wife used this dry shampoo on her hair and she felt that it was ok, but not as good as some of the name brand dry shampoos.
She liked the applicator, which is a spongy type thing. The powder sifts through the sponge and onto your hair. Her hair is dark, so she could see traces of the powder. On light hair you probably wouldn’t see it at all.
It didn’t add any volume.

Nothing not to like – even the packaging is great and the lid stays on well in your toiletry bag!
