so happy to have this for my feeding station
I used to have cardboard boxes covered in trash bags and duct tape to hold the food for my outdoor cat feeding station. After a while, they would sag from moisture and the cats jumping on it, or the squirrels sitting on it. And they just were not attractive. When I saw these, I got one as a gift and liked it so much, I ordered another one. I sit them side by side, with one at an angle. They are great to work as wind blocks as the cats eat and keep the food from getting wet from rain or snow. I put bricks inside to keep them from blowing over, as the wind can get bad in my area. The food bowls just sit on top of the bricks. Took the cats a little while to feel comfortable eating out of them, but I suspect that was because they had to get used to the smell of something new. They are very easy to put together. I think they would hold up to a cat getting on top of it, since there was evidence of wet foot prints of raccoons getting on top of them one night as they searched for food particles that fell behind the bricks. They are lots cuter than cardboard boxes!

Not raccoon-proof, but what is?
ETA 6 months later: It hasn’t fared well, due to constant assault by warring adult raccoons and mischievous kits – not to mention our famously tempestuous Oregon coast storms. It still protects the kibbles from the rain, sort of, sometimes. But the roof is half collapsed and some mornings I find the whole thing flattened and dragged to another side of the deck. Considering the abuse, not sorry I purchased. But will try sturdier plastic box next. ORIGINAL REVIEW: So I feed the local raccoons. You know, that thing you’re not supposed to do? I do it. They bring their kits and rappel up onto the upper deck and pig out on cheap dog kibbles I put out. Thing is, it rains all the time here. This turns any uneaten food into gross pink soggy puffs (which the jays then eat, but still). So I got this shelter to shove the raccoon dish into. It works, as much as anything can work with trash pandas. They pull the dish out so the whole gang can reach in with their beautiful, terrifying little hands and the food gets soggy anyway. The babies climb on top and bap each other, which is more weight than the roof was designed to hold, so it’s lopsided now. All in all, it isn’t as pretty as it was before it met hungry trash pandas. If all you’re feeding is stray cats, probably it will stay prettier.

The feral cats love having protection from the elements! Safe for them, too.

My one outside cat loves this in the winter!
If your cat insist on going outside or you have outside cats, this is a great product. I definitely recommend this product. I use it in winter and both dishes warm up very quickly. I suggest putting in a little bit of water with the wet food because otherwise it’s to hard to clean because the wet food will stick. I give it 5 stars and recommend this product!

I have befriended numerous feral cats and while I’ve been able to semi-domesticate a couple others are strictly outdoorsy! That meant freezing water bowls and snow and rained on food! So when I saw this eating enclosure it was a perfect match for the heated bowls I’d purchased. At a good size and with weather resistant material is attractive enough to look natural just outside my kitchen door. It was very easy to put together and while I wouldn’t say you couldn’t sit on it, it is well made and sturdy enough to take on a snow drift!… I’m happy I bought it!…
