Better than Phillips Sonicare. App is actually useful and not just a gimmick.
So, I’m a long-time user of Sonicare, which means I’ve gone through a number of them that always tend to break right at warranty expiry. Though I usually find them on sale, they are not cheap, nor are the brushes, and for the price they are still so prone to breaking down and various issues. So, when my current one started to have an issue (turning on randomly on its own, startling all around), I started shopping for a replacement. This Oral B brush went on sale, so I decided to check it out – maybe return if it wasn’t all that great in comparison. At first, I was a little confused, because I thought these brushes mainly worked by rotation, but they are both that and sonication. I don’t know if the vibration speed matches to Sonicare, but it doesn’t seem critical. One immediate thing I noticed was the light ring which instantly lets you know if you are pressing too hard or not enough. As somebody with gum issues, this is appreciated. Next thing, do set up and try out the app. I was skeptical, but it really does a good job of figuring out what part of your mouth you are brushing, apparently by some kind of bluetooth-based sonar and something in the brush that can tell if it’s facing up or down. It’s not to the level of knowing which tooth, but it maps the front and two sides of both the top and bottom of your mouth, which is still pretty detailed. Rather than just using some kind of timer, it tracks that you spend the proper amount of time in each of the 6 regions. Your coverage within each region is then up to you. Sure, there are some times when it is a bit off, but I find that that tends to happen if I turn my head. So if you keep your head still, it seems to work more accurately. Not too hard to do. Besides the main brush tracking, you can set specific goals, and it will add recommendations for other steps like tongue brushing and flossing. I started a program for plaque removal. So now, instead of brushing or not kind of mindlessly in the shower one a day, I have started brushing twice a day, with more intention, and it’s even slightly fun. And so far, my teeth feel smoother and cleaner. I also get less gum bleed, perhaps due to avoiding pressing too hard. I think this is still a bit pricey at full price, but maybe in this case it could be worth it for the improvement in your teeth and gum health. On sale, I can definitely recommend. Will it last long term? We’ll see.

Looking for help and found it!
I have my new io series 5…. Has been on charger over 24 hours. When I go to use it runs for about 10 seconds and then shuts off and will not restart until it’s been on charger, but when I try and use it does the same thing. Any help would be appreciated. UPDATE: I contacted customer service and they sent me a replacement. I am happy to say the new one works great and does a fabulous job of getting my teeth clean! Giving it a four star because of the rough start…

Best ever, upgraded from old oral b
I have the last generation top-of-the-line, Oral-B toothbrush, and this toothbrush puts it to shame in every way. My teeth are so clean after brush brushing with this thing it’s ridiculous. It spins and has sonic which the product packaging and information doesn’t do a good job of highlighting. It’s also a sonic toothbrush and I’ve always wondered why you couldn’t have both and finally you can. I don’t use the gimmicky app and didn’t on my last one either so can’t comment on that. Hopefully warehouse clubs will eventually start to sell box packs of the toothbrush heads because this model uses a brand new kind of head that is different from the older Oral-B, but these new heads are superior in every way. I’ve also use sonic hair in the past and was never a huge fan. If you’re on the fence, just buy it.

Time to dump your manual toothbrush
Very easy to use ,with 3 heads for different cleaning. Also a color appears to let you know if brushing the correct pressure . Noise level is ok . I actually have both this 1 & the Phillips Sonic Care . I cannot decide which is better because they are much different. You cannot go wrong with either brush .

I don’t know whose idea this product was, but Oral B built a genuine gem here and struck gold. Using this has been amazing for me (less than a week of usag). The brushing guide gives a fulfilling feeling as it helps navigate all parts of the teeth with a visual aid.
This has 3 brush types in the pack and the app helps track the use of the toothbrush with a presetting to remind the user to change used tooth brushes after 3 months.
The toothbrush sizes allows the brittles to get into tigth spots in the teeth and cleans out the plaque build ups. With the app helping to track the amount of pressure placed on the teeth while brushing, this toothbrush can also help with keeping the gum healthy. In addition to this, it would help you track gum bleeds.
As mundane and corny as the medal system might seem, it does give a sense of self accomplishment, not to mention how well it incentivises good oral hygiene.
In all, this has my 5 points and I recommend this for great oral hygiene especially for those that have challenge with plaques.

I originally purchased the IO4 and really liked it (until i discovered that the charger that came with it didn’t work), so i got this one instead (the IO5). It works very well, keeps the charge for about 2 weeks, has easy to use features, pretty straight forward. But ended up giving it to my husband because i personally prefer the IO4’s display (actually “lack of display”) and found the IO5 annoying cause as soon as i walked into our tiny bathroom it lit up and i found it “pushy”, as if it was telling me “let’ goooo brush your teeth!” and i found that “too much” for my taste hahahaha! So if you like the IO4 but find it too simple and would like to have a bit more of an interactive display, then this one is for you! If not, don’t bother, and stick with the IO4 😉
