Nice all in one safety kit
This is a good safety kit for paddlesports, the bailing bucket not really needed for paddleboards, but its still a good way to keep everything together.Even though the label says that the AAA batteries are not included, my headlamp had them preinstalled and it was ready to go out of the bubble wrap. The headlamp has white or red lamps in different levels of brightness. Most importantly its water resistant. You can’t go wrong with having a headlamp if you get caught out late or if your packing out and it gets dark. I never thought to keep an extra headlamp with my paddling gear but it just makes sense.I never thought too much about having a safety whistle either but that also makes a lot of sense to have. We have had issues with the younger kids getting into some trouble on a paddleboard where they were carried off course by heavy wind, waves or currents. Having this whistle so they can have it at the ready could be a huge safety device to get them help by getting noticed before they get too far off course. I should probably get some extra whistles and have on e permanently attached to the PFD’s.One little thing that I noticed is that the lid for the bucket does not have any kind of gasket in it. While the bucket itself is buoyant when the lid is on and and floats, if it gets submerged there is a chance some water can get in and left to get funky. I experimented with hand tightening the cap and then inverting it into a bucket to see just how water tight this gasket-less connection is and it let in about a tablespoon of water after just a couple minutes so don’t expect to use this as a dry container.

Good quality Safety Kit for Paddle Sports
Pelican’s Nautical Safety Kit for Paddle Sports is well made and contains the basics needed for an emergency while participating in paddle sports. I got it for my family’s kayak, and it’s bright enough to be easily seen and grabbed when needed. The container and headlamp are both watertight. The whistle is basic but solid and loud, and the buoy and floating rope is a good length, comfortable to hold, and the buoy is light and sturdy. Additionally, the signal mirror is built into the lid, so it doesn’t take up excess room, and the entire kit is lightweight, making it easy to keep on board without worrying about it getting in the way. It’s a good choice for water sport safety, and well worth getting.

    Nifty Nautical Safety Kit
This safety kit is pretty cool. It is designed for nautical (water) usage, but can also be used away from the water. It is contained inside a thick, well constructed container with a screw top lid. It is bright orange so it is easily visible. Inside the lid is a shiny piece of aluminum that can be used as a signal mirror in bright sunlight. It does not reflect images well. There is a very loud emergency whistle. Only use outside. There is 50 feet of yellow nylon rope with a small orange flotation device attached. This makes the rope float on top of the water. It comes with a headlamp with an orange strap. The headlamp requires 3 AAA batteries that are not included. There is enough room inside to add a few other smaller items like matches or fire starter. This kit is great for boating, camping, or hiking.

    Perfect for almost any boat
This kit includes the coast guard recommended items needed for most boats (minus oar and life vests). Visual and audible signaling device and bailing. Also includes the rope and head lamp which could be useful in certain situation. Packaged well and compactly which really helps make it useful for anything from a jet ski to a larger boat. Total size is just slightly larger than a water bottle so easy to store for that emergency.

    Safety in a little bucket!
Upfront disclosure: I received this item through the Amazon Vine program for review. This is a nice little bucket made by Pelican, so the quality is as expected, it’s good. All the basics are in the kit including rope, a mirror, the bailing bucket, and a headlamp. Exactly what accessories you probably should have in a canoe or kayak for a day or evening on the river. Definitely worth getting.

    An excellent nautical safety kit
This safety kit gives you just about everything you would need (except a life jacket) for spending time on the water. No matter what type of boat you are on, it’s great to have this kit with you. It contains a waterproof headlamp, a 50-foot floating rope, a signal mirror, a whistle, and a bailer bucket (So you can remove water from your boat if it has a slow leak). I will definitely take this with me the next time I’m on a kayak or small boat.
