    An Epic Story!
This story is fictional yet mentions events and characters you might find in the Bible. The plot is good, moves at a steady pace from one disappointment to the next challenge. When Cassia travels to her late husband’s homeland she never thought she would stir up a mother’s nest. She never thought it would end in a Mt Carmel type of showdown. Good does win but who will survive? There is murder, death and abuse mentioned but no details are given that middle age readers couldn’t handle (Think PG or PG13). This novel has no swears or sex scenes so it’s entertaining and very easy to recommend to others. The Scripture is referenced to others in conversation and the reader finishes wanting more inspiration from this gifted author. Read, enjoy and read more.

    Incredible book!
I Have always been intrigued by Petra. I randomly choose this book to learn about it. I not only learned about Petra, I learned about How early Christians had to live in an idol worshipping society. Christian were put in an area with wild animals that tore apart. I loved how people came to believe in Jesus and learn from letters written by Paul to the Churches in the area. The manifestation of God’s power in high place where a human sacrifice was to be made was absolutely Spectacular. I highly recommend this book.

    The eternal conflict
Just finished a great read. Petra, City of Stone by T.L. Higley. Here is superb Biblical fiction (A.D. 106) that captures the imagination and drags you through a story line that will tantalize, delight and even raise the hair on your neck a time or two. Here’s a story of a young heroine (Cassia) trapped in an abusive marriage, forced to lie, cheat and steal to keep her husband in booze.Petra, City of Stone (I hope that doesn’t sound too familiar.) When she manages to escape, to Petra, she taken advantage of and left on the street to die. But, and this is the beginning of the good news, she is discovered and whisked away to the home of a believer who’s family and friends nurture her back to health. Yes, there’s a hero – a man torn between a forgotten faith and humiliating defeat. Here’s the thing, Cassia knows her son is a bona fide heir to the throne of Petra. What she doesn’t know is the rulers of Petra are steeped in devil worship, and the queen is none to interested in a rival to her own son’s claim to the kingdom. A Holy war ensues mixed with romance, betrayal and a stubborn spirit in more than one dimension.

    loved this!
I felt like I was whisked to Petra! The characters were endearing and the plot fascinating. I’ve read so many of Tracy Higley’s books. My only disappointment was when they each ended, although the story endings were always satisfying. Luckily Tracy had more books to choose from.

A Novel That Brings The Ancient Residents of Petra To Life!
This is an intriguing novel that does bring the people to life, exactly what I was hoping for. I bought Petra, City In Stone, because I want to know more about the people that have lived there over the centuries. I visited Petra last year and have studied it from just about every possible angle. I thought that reading about it in a novel might help put things into perspective a little better by putting “people” in all of those rock dwellings, tombs, etc. I wanted to visualize the people who were doing the carving.Even though Petra is referred to in the Bible a number of times under several different names, there aren’t many details about the people who lived there and how they lived. I have videos, books, maps, but nothing that made the people come to life the way this story has. The ending will stay with me!
