Sonicare clean at an affordable price
I have the much more expensive Philips Sonicare Diamond Clean toothbrush that my entire family uses on a daily basis so I bought this one to take with me when I travel. It’s basically the same toothbrush as my Diamond Clean, but without the 4 extra cleaning modes and the cool, cup charger.
Sonicare toothbrushes use ultrasound waves in addition to the brushing action to more effectively break up and remove plaque and it really does work. We’ve been using ultrasonic toothbrushes for a number of years now and have the healthy mouths to prove it. And since there is a direct link between gum disease and heart disease, healthy teeth and gums give you more than just a beautiful smile.
If you’ve never used a Sonicare toothbrush before, you will notice immediately that it’s a very vigorous cleaning. If you have sensitive teeth, it may even be uncomfortable at first. There is an Easy Start mode that gradually increases the power of the brushing action over a two week period to help you get used to it but for some folks, it still may be too much. Philips has other Sonicare models that have a Sensitive mode that are more comfortable for sensitive teeth. This model, however, has only the one, normal mode.
There is an automatic 2 minute timer to ensure you brush for the full recommended 2 minutes, which is especially great for kids. It also alerts you every 30 seconds to switch to another quadrant of your mouth so you brush every area thoroughly.
This model comes with one brush head. The brush heads should be replaced every 3 months, just like a manual toothbrush. The Philips brand brush heads are excellent but also pricey. I buy these, which fit perfectly and perform just as well, IMO. Standard Replacement Brush Heads for Philips Sonicare HX6014/13 ProResults (4, 8, 12 or 20 Pack) | Fits: Easyclean, DiamondClean, HealthyWhite, Flexcare [20 Pack]
The charging base is very compact – great for limited counter space and for travel. There is a light on the toothbrush that flashes when charging and glows steady when charging is complete. When I travel, I always take my youngest son and I get about a week on a full charge with both of us using the toothbrush.
I do not have sensitive teeth and I love the way it makes my teeth and gums feel. Additionally, it’s fabulous for removing coffee and tea stains from your teeth. Plus, I like that one toothbrush can keep my whole family’s teeth and gums healthy and all I need to do is order brush heads every few months.
After purchasing the Blue/White color, I got this Guacamole color through Amazon Vine and and the Coral and Steel Blue colors as well. The Blue/White is the most neutral and should work in most any bathroom color scheme as it is primarily white. I’m using it for travel. The Guacamole is a lovely, light guacamole color that looks gorgeous in my spa themed bathroom that is green and bamboo. The Coral is a saturated, salmon pink color that would be great in a girl’s bathroom. I put it in my daughter’s white, gold and pink bathroom and it’s definitely pretty enough to stay out on the counter. The Steel Blue is a medium blue with grayish undertones and looks great in my tiny, blue and white, beach themed bathroom. It’s nice having all the colors to choose from so you can coordinate with your bathroom decor.
The body of the toothbrush has a matte finish and it also has a textured area on the back so it’s not slippery in wet hands. I’m also glad it doesn’t have a rubberized finish because those always seem to get sticky after a year or so.
If you want the Sonicare clean at an affordable price, this model is a nice choice.

    Works great!
I charged it once about 6 months ago when I ordered it. It’s still kept its charge! I store it laying horizontally in a drawer with my “regular” toothbrush, not on the charger. One tip: After reading about “goop” collecting at the neck, I took steps to prevent that. Here’s how: After I brush my teeth, I rinse the brush head under the faucet and then WIPE IT DRY with a paper towel. (I mean, it’s still a little damp but it’s not dripping with water.) Then, I lay it in the drawer. That prevents any goop from forming in the first place! Thanks to the reviewers who mentioned that issue! It cleans my teeth very well. I still use by regular tooth at times, alternating with this one. I’ll find out at my next dentist appointment how well that’s been working LOL!

    Excellent brand and cost. Efficient
I had an older version with the prong plug that no longer worked properly. I got the second least expensive Sonicare and it is perfect. It charged quickly and is small and comfortable. The brush is easy to put on and remove. The base is small so be careful it doesn’t tip over. I read all of the directions; it is easy to use. Be aware that it shuts off after two minutes so you need to be sure to not linger in one area. My teeth felt very clean afterwards unlike when using a manual toothbrush. I had my teeth cleaned recently and my dental higentist said to replace the Sonicare that I threw away. I highly recommend this low cost basic Sonicare 2100 model.

    Good value and gunk solution
Hey folks, it’s a $20 Sonicare toothbrush – what a deal! I checked the price at Sam’s and it was $130 for two, or $65 each. This might be an older style but very similar to the one I have been happily using for years. What I received was the Essence, model #HX5611/01 which came with a standard brush head and a charger base. It is made in China and has a NiMH battery. It does have a two minute timer only. It comes with a two year warranty that can be extended by by six months if you register online.
There is the problem of the gunkiness that develops between the brush head and the handle. It is alarming when you change the brush head, but I’ve always cleaned it with a Qtip and moved on. However, now that I have a new unit I wanted to see if there was a better solution. I read and tried the tip about cutting a finger off a latex glove and slipping it over the bottom of the head to cover the gap at the screw on connection joint (I call this the condom approach). Well, it is cheap, but difficult to do successfully (I tried three times) and it looks a bit tacky. It works until the severed glove finger (aka condom) starts creeping up on the brush head. However, I believe I have a better option.
Like any type of water-related connection (think garden hose), some type of washer or gasket is needed to seal the connected parts. I have no idea why the Sonicare people don’t provide one, but give this a try. For about $3 you can buy 10 “O” rings at the hardware store. I chose the #30 size which seems to give a snug fit. Unscrew the toothbrush, slip the “O” ring on the handle part to the bottom of the screw threads. Then screw the brush head back on and viola!…a watertight seal. Problem solved and you have enough “O” rings to last a lifetime!
I’ve attached a photo showing the different techniques. The Sonicare on the right is my old unit. The new one is the left, still with its severed glove finger condom (green gloves were all I had on hand). I’ve installed the “O” on the older unit for illustration purposes, you should be able to see the black “O” ring installed between the head and the handle. Another “O” ring is displayed on the old toothbrush so you can see what it looks like out of the package. Good luck!

    Great product
Love this product, it has 2 speed options and cleans really well. My dentist recommended it as it has the perfect pressure and don’t harm gums.

I’m likely never going back to manual. This thing cleans much better and thoroughly. Battery lasts a good amount, but I charge out of habit every 2 or 3 days. Overall no complaints on the function, quality or condition

Bought this to replace an Oral B brush that stopped holding a charge after just a couple months – this Sonicare is infinitely more powerful, feels sturdier and leaves my teeth feeling super clean!
