Excellent Read
Iâve spent some time fishing and backpacking in a few of the same areas that Mr. Oberg writes about. His stories ring true and brought back some wonderful memories of my own.

Entertaining Read!
What a fun read! I’m not a hunter/fisherman and yet I really enjoyed reading these stories. The stories are entertaining, and they end with a bonus – a moral, or note, or special learning quip. They read as adventures with friends, family, guides, some normal, some strange and some, well, really bazaar. They hunt in some beautiful remote places that come alive on the page with descriptive writing. Gary Oberg describes himself as an introvert, engineer, father, friend, devoted husband and a Christian. I can tell you that his sense of humor makes the book fun. I bought this book for my two brother in laws who love to hunt and fish and are forever telling me stories of their adventures. They will love it too!

Fun read, stories
I quote enjoyed these narratives of hunting and fishing trips that the author made. They are not wilderness adventures.

FUN!
Often, hunting stories are an excuse for a hunter to show off their bravado and their mastery over their prey. Gary tells his stories in a way that feels real. Of course, he boasts when he does well, but he shows equal humility when things go off course. As amazing as his life is, his stories reflect true humanity that anyone can empathize with. I only wish that I could fulfill my life’s “bucket list” as well as Gary did. I’m glad that Gary gave in to his friend’s suggestion and finally sat down to write down his life’s story to share with the rest of us. Thank you, Gary.

The stories are short and compelling.
Each short story is separate and unrelated, yet detailed and revolves around simple life lessons. It’s perfect to pick up and put down again and read between life’s busy moments. Yet, the stories transport you into the wilderness alongside the author and I found myself drawn back to book frequently to continue reading about the true and often humorous adventures of the author. An enjoyable read for anyone who enjoys hunting, fishing, and the great outdoors.

OK I suppose
The book is ok I suppose. It’s not really all hunting stories. Its readable is all I can say

True stories are sometimes stranger than fiction. And better.
Sitting around a campfire, with the crickets and frogs creating a background din. Occasionally a coyote sings and the wind soughs through the overhanging branches. Old Mose starts with a tale and others follow. Hard to believe, but these stories are true. Great way to enjoy an evening. Or a morning.
