Easy to Read Glass Digital Scale
I really like this Taylor glass digital scale I ordered. The transparent glass platform gives it a minimalist look. I compared it to my current scale, which I think is fairly accurate. They vary from each other by about 0.2 lbs. Iâm not worried about the difference, because itâs not like Iâm weighing gold bullions. All scales are different, anyway. My weight at home always vary from the weight at the doctorâs office. The key is to weigh yourself using the same scale every day. Other features of this scale are:1) Digital readout has big numbers. The numbers are 1.5 inches tall. Weight reads out as soon as you step on the scale. Then it flashes for the final weight number.2) There is a 400 pounds capacity or 180 kg.3) It can read out in pounds, kg, or stones just by pressing a button on the back.4) Two steel bars on the right and left sides under the scale gives sturdy construction.5) This scale needs to be placed on a hard surface for accuracy.6) The scale is an approximate 12â X 12â square. So, it can accommodate shoe sizes bigger than my size 7 feet.7) Two AAA batteries included. Be careful you donât accidentally throw the batteries away. Mine were taped to the plastic packaging.8) Great price, 5 year warranty9) Made in ChinaI have been using the scale for a week, and it has performed very well. This digital scale (by Taylor Precision Products) measures 12-1/2 inches in length x 12-1/2 inches in width.Two AAA batteries are included, as is an instruction manual, which I found to be quite useful (good details about operating and maintaining the scale, as well as a body-mass index table).This scale is lightweight.The middle part of the scale is see-through (I measure it to be 6 inches in length x 12-1/2 inches width).On the back of the scale, there is a: round rubber base, one at each corner. This is what the scale stands on. battery compartment. square-shaped button that, when depressed, changes the scale from “lb” (default) to “Kg” to “st” note: “st” stands for stone (1 stone = 14 pounds).Once I inserted the two AAA batteries, the screen lights up. If I don’t stand on the scale within 20 seconds, the screen turns off.Once I stand on the scale, the numbers go up until it gives my weight, at which point the number flashes several times. Once it stops flashing, and I remain standing on the scale, the screen turns off in about 10 seconds.To determine the accuracy of this scale, I performed a series of experiments, with the scale placed on our hardwood floor:a) I put a 25-lb barbell on the scale. It read 25 lb.About 10 minutes later, I put this same barbell on the scale. It read 25.2 lbs.b) I put a 30-lb dumbbell on the scale in a horizontal manner. It read 28.6 lbs.A few minutes later, put the dumbbell on the scale in approximately the same position. It read 28.4 lbs.c) I then stepped on the scale, while holding 25-lb barbell. The scale read 0.6 lbs more than it should have (for example, if scale says I weigh 150 lbs, and I then hold this 25-lb barbell, the scale should read 175-lb, and not 175.6).d) I stepped on the scale. It gave me one reading.Then, 10 minutes later, while wearing same clothes, and not eating or drinking, and not having gone to the bathroom, it read 0.4 lbs more than on the first reading.Then, about 10 minutes or so later, using same parameters as above, I got the same reading as the first reading.e) I stepped on this Taylor scale. It gave me a reading.Then, I stepped on an older digital scale I had, which gave me a reading that was 0.3-lbs lower.I repeated this same experiment the next day, and the readings were consistent with the above results, except for my personal weight, which fluctuates depending on my meals before I stepped on the scale.Lastly, with a number of our family members using this scale numerous times over the past week, the glass is smeared from the dirt and oils from our bare feet (or shoes, if others stepped on the scale while wearing shoes). We used a damp cloth to clean the glass.So, I think of this scale as being adequate for our needs, giving us a fairly accurate weight. I keep regular readings of my weight so that when I visit my doctor, the doctor can decide whether or not my medications need to be adjusted.

Accurate and durable
This scale is pretty accurate, coming within a couple of pounds difference between it and my doctor, so that’s pretty good. It’s also durable, which surprised me. I was a little bit leary of the glass, but it’s very sturdy. I really like the design, and I like that it has a higher weight limit. The scale seems to be well made and it’s holding up well. I keep it in the bathroom and the steam from the shower hasn’t affected the performance. Then you have the price, which is very reasonable for the quality, so I’d say it’s a good value and I’d recommend it.

How Can Something So Misaligned Pass Quality Control?
When I opened the box that this Taylor Digital Clear Glass scale came in, I immediately noticed that the top crosspiece containing the digital display was mounted at an angle to the edge of the scale.Even though that spoiled my initial impression, I put in the two included Maxell AAA batteries and tested the scale out. Sure enough, it registered my weight. Duh! And I kind of liked the way it counted up the digits until it settled on the final number, even though the weight it showed was about a pound heavier than the other digital scale that Iâve been using for years.But my anal-retentive personality canât accept the misaligned display, which drives me crazy. I dismantled the scale as much as I could to see if I could line up the crosspiece, but it seems to be glued in place. Thereâs no way to adjust it short of prying the pieces apart and probably breaking them. So, sadly, what would otherwise be a decent scale ends up in my donation pile.Iâm amazed and appalled that it got out of the factory with such a grossly misaligned major component.

Medium sized scale.
Not one of those tiny space-saver scales, but itâs also not huge. It gave me a completely accurate reading. I think the Clear bottom is a super cool feature in case you want to tape a photo of a bikini model to the underside for a little motivation ðð
