Finally, a Parenting Book That Gets My Teen!
As a parent navigating the ups and downs with my own challenging teen, Susan Casoâs The Parent-Teen Connection felt like a lifeline. Her insights into teenage behavior, paired with her empathetic approach, made this book more than just adviceâit felt like understanding from someone who truly gets it.The book tackles common, thorny issues in a way that makes them feel manageable. With chapters focused on bridging communication gaps, building trust, and dealing with those inevitable clashes over independence and boundaries, Caso provides concrete strategies I could immediately relate to and try out. Her advice is practical yet compassionate, urging parents to shift perspectives and connect with their teens on a deeper, more respectful level. For example, the exercises at the end of each chapter encouraged me to think about my responses and reactions, and I saw how little shifts could ease tension in my own home. One of the most comforting things about The Parent-Teen Connection is that itâs not a âquick fixâ manualâit acknowledges that navigating the teenage years is complex and, at times, exhausting. But by helping parents step back and recognize what their teens are going through, Caso shows that itâs possible to create a bond built on mutual respect and understanding. For anyone struggling to connect with a teen who seems to have one foot out the door, this book offers practical steps and hope that harmony and trust can still thrive.

Practical, easy to read and apply, excellent parent help.
Susan Caso’s book is a great guide to creating a foundation to connecting with your children. I dare to say that we are the first generation of parents whose teen have to face social media and online challenges. The battle of screen time is so stressful for both sides. I found chapter 7 is especially relevant to this modern day challenge, and understand why emotional connections are more important than ever during difficult teenage years.I also found this book helpful in understanding some of my own behavior. It gives me guidance and confidence when my teens are acting out.

Techniques for parents/teens that have a positive impact
Susanâs book takes the guess work out of communicating with teens in this modern age. Teens need love and compassion, not authoritative criticism in order to feel heard and seen. Highly recommend reading this book.

Let’s start looking forward to those teen years!
I have a 9-year-old daughter and 12-year-old son. I’ve been looking forward to a time when I don’t have to carry snacks around, and we can enjoy family conversations. Our conversations and our time together are really meaningful. I know the moods are coming, though, and I know that I could be a better parent. After reading Susan Caso’s book, I feel ready! I also know that I’m on the right path. There are some things I need to check myself on. This book is a breath of fresh air. If you’ve read other parenting books, you’ll get what I’m saying. It’s thoughtful, considerate, not repetitive, and realistic.
