I know because I was there.)In short, John explains that our bodies are all biologically programmed to react to threats the same way we did back in caveman days: Being chased by a predator? You better be thin so you can run fast. Long cold winter coming? Gotta pack on those pounds and stay warm. These âprogramsâ in our mind react to our modern stresses, and for some reason our bodies are thinking that fat equals safe. This theory resonated with me because Iâve always had a suspicion my fat was my own form of protection.Here we are, in May, 3 weeks ago I finally started doing the meditations daily as youâre supposed to â morning and evening (thereâs an app to listen to the meditations guided, get it!) â I think I held off for so long because I âwasnât ready,â but after falling sick and being bed ridden I didnât have an excuse not to try it. After a week of the meditations I feltâ¦â¦ good. I felt uplifted, I felt more positive, I started feeling more in control over my decisions to say ânoâ to hundreds of calories of snacking during my work day. I also felt less compelled to drink, binge eat, etc etc. And I have felt these feelings get stronger every day as I continue. To me that is a MASSIVE benefit, just as big as the weight loss itself. I have not weighed myself because to me, the scale takes away from what weight loss is really about â feeling good. But I will say I had a doctorâs visit this past Monday and I was several pounds lighter than the last time I weighed myself. I even had a friend tell me he thought I looked thinner. And emotionally I feel lighter too. I definitely feel change happening, and I feel like Iâm in a better mindset in general. So to me that is a win.My mother has also been doing these meditations, she came to visit me (she lives fara way) and I told her she looked thinner, she also attributes this to the Gabriel Method.I would highly recommend this book â and please download the app with the meditations, it makes it so much easier. Remember that you have to do SOME of the work in order to lose weight â and by that I mean you need to make time to do the visualizations. I held off for so long because I was being too lazy to set aside the time to do the meditations, but after having done them for a few weeks now I canât believe I ever saw them as inconvenient. The evening meditation you can do while laying in bed at night and I often doze off to sleep which has *not* proven to be a bad thing. In fact I am actually grateful because I have a hard time falling asleep so these have been tremendously helpful. I do the morning meditations maybe 4 out of 7 days of the week, I canât always get my act together in the morning but I try to do it as often as I can.Anyhoo, I hope that helped. Good luck!

Meaning Jon did all the difficult work for all of us folk that were not willing to do it.He’s resume is impressive. I’ve been focused on my health (mind and body) for tens years now and I stumbled along the way to discover all the same basic techniques Jon talks about in his book.The true way to donate your weight back to the universe is several fold. Know yourself. Listen to your body. And that takes time.He incorporates his years of knowledge in this one book. Some people may get and it some may not. If your looking for specifics and statistics he sites them for you which I know most people aren’t willing to go read but the citations makes this book all the more valuable.This book is a blend of common sense and science put together.I have studied everything from NLP, hypnosis, psychology, eastern, western medicine etc.He knows his stuff. The reason the fitness and diet industry is a billion dollar industry is because every day someone is coming out with something “revolutionary”…THAT WORKED FOR THEM. And these new techniques do work for some and not for others. The reason is everyone is different. It’s up to you to find the right combination.Jon’s method is not about one specific way. What the method is about is guiding you with tools to find your specific way.Jon is saying in order for you to get healthy you have to figure out what works for you. It’s about developing a relationship with yourself and your body. What a strange concept? :-)I think this is the major theme in the book and I hope people get that.I’ve been doing these techniques for years. Long before I read this book. Once you get the concepts of positive thinking better eating etc results will happen fast.Get this book. Share it with your friends and see the results of what people like him, Chopra, Wayne Dyer have been saying all along.Your mind is connected to your body. Start making that healthy and the body will follow.

First off, let me say I loved this book. It has the missing key from so many other books. I loved the comparison of dieting to trying to cut down on sleep. You can do it for a while, but eventually, your body will insist that it make up what you’ve lost. I love the mind-body connection. It’s important to think positively. And it’s true, our bodies react to constant stress as danger signals. We have to address that before we can expect consistent, long term weight loss.But be prepared for some strange new age/eastern ideas as well. Is a trauma from another incarnation (past life) causing you to gain weight, for example. And while he says to stop dieting, the fact is, he used a diet to lose his own weight. He tells you to eat what you want and perhaps there’s some value to this as a psychological trick. However, he does not as a rule eat starches, eats a minimal amount of organic meat and unpasteurized dairy. The bulk of his diet is organic, raw produce. Many raw foodies and followers of the Eat to Live diet have had the same amazing results, evenr eporting the skin elasticity he does. But let’s be real: while it’s probably the most nutritious diet going and doesn’t require being hungry, it is a diet, a low calorie, very restrictive diet. He didn’t lose weight strictly by destressing, being positive, and quitting diets. And most likely, neither will you. The mind/body technique is part of an overall diet plan.Still, I think his ideas have a lot of merit. And I’m glad I read the book.

This is an exceptional book. I have been both very thin and overweight myself and I know the myths that surround overweight people.there is a collective shaming of fat people, an assumption that one is a moral failure, is lazy or not trying enough. there is verbal shaming and bullying but also non-verbal shaming and ridiculing looks and behaviour. All that makes an overweight person feel that its their fault and should try more. The irony is that the more one is dieting the more weight one gains. Its madness.This book has completely changed my life, and the way of view obesity. It destroys all the negative thinking and destructive feelings, thoughts and behavior associated with body weight, and obesity. It is the most holistic view on obesity that I have ever encounter, based on cellular level research findings, experience, and deep psychological knowledge. I actually believe that all general practioner doctors and psychotherapists as well should read this book if they want to help their obese patients. I believe that psychotherapists would gain deep and necessary understanding on how and why the body is holding on to weight, and how to best support their clients.I have encountered myself evidence from other sources all supporting what Jon Gabriel says. one example is the role of omega3, and of visualization. on the bbc documentary found in you tube :” BBC The Human Mind Professor Robert Winston” in minute 23.32 talks how visualization can actually strengthen muscles. I have lost 24 kilos myself along with the psychological suffering associated with obesity, dieting, calorie counting, and restriction. I find his approach the most holistic, psychologically minded, biologically sound, and life-affirming approach. I hope that with my review I can help others escape from the maze of obesity, and I wish to everyone all the very best!!

Ce livre est pour moi l’aboutissement de mes recherches sur le sujet de la perte de poids. Cela faisait quelques temps que j’avais compris que les régimes ne fonctionnaient pas sur le long terme et qu’il y avait sûrement une clef que je n’avais pas encore trouvée pour passer “de l’autre côté”. Pas très envie de vous “spoiler” la lecture en vous partageant ce qui a été le déclic pour moi, mais autant vous dire qu’à la moitié du livre, je commençais déjà à dégonfler, et que j’ai dû perdre environ 3 kilos rien qu’en le lisant… J’ai toujours été persuadée qu’une grande partie (..peut-être même l’intégralité!) de nos “maux” venaient d’une perception erronée de nous-mêmes et du monde, et avec ce livre j’ai enfin trouvé la clef psychologique avec laquelle j’ai définitivement changé de paradigme : et la façon dont mon corps se transforme est la preuve que c’est la bonne pour moi. Je reviendrai plus tard pour vous dire où j’en suis à ce niveau 🙂 Lecture à mon avis efficace pour ceux qui sentent que leur psychologie est la source d’une grande partie de leurs difficultés!
