    Fantastic Book, Inspiring Author@
I was already on my running journey when I learned that Martinus would be attending the expo of the 15k race I was training for. I saw that he had written this book and it had just come out (early June) also I was injured and needed to take a 2 week break and perfectly timed this book arrived. I could not put it down…it was funny, serious at times, motivational and inspirational. The thing I loved the most was that Martinus through his words, and experiences convinced me that I was a runner. No matter how slow I was, I was running and doing it, therefore: a runner. Up until that point, I was worried that I was going to be swept off the course, that I was too slow, people would be annoyed with me…this book helped me not give a s$%t about any of that, and just run…at my pace. Martinus said running is the only sport where you are able to be on the same course as elite athletes, and that’s exactly what I thought of while running. So many great stories, so many great tips about footwear, chafing, nutrition (before and after races) and an actual SLOW AF run club where I am with people who “get me”. Can’t say enough great things about Martinus, his beautiful wife Char, and this incredible book!! Get this book if you are starting a running program, thinking about starting to run for the 1st time, or used to run and want to get back into it. You’ll be so happy you did!

    Highly recommend this book!
I heard Martinus on a podcast on New Years Day and was inspired to order his book. I always found running(and every other sport) to be intimidating and had never done more than walk. I started running at the beginning of February. This weekend I will run my first 5K! Not only is this book inspiring it also gives you all the information you didn’t know you needed to know about running. I feel like this gave me everything I needed to know to just start. I’m slow(af) but I’m doing it and that is really all that matters.

    good book for tentative beginners
I ran track in high school but in my current physical condition, I just didn’t have the confidence to lace up my sneakers and get back out there. This book lit a fire under me. I love that the author didn’t look like the “typical” runner because I was able to see myself more in him than the magazine covers. The information in the book was pretty basic but very useful and inspirational for a plus size woman like myself. The main take away is find your inner resolve and put one foot in front of the other.I felt seen in this book so thank you Mr. Evans.

    Highly recommend!!
I’m overweight due to past cancer, Fibromyalgia, adrenals, and a full thyroidectomy. I used to be a thin, fit, muscular athlete….so I’m living in a body now that has had its ass kicked — but it has taken me thru life. So I praise it.I’m accepting (trying to) what it’s like to be overweight. But I bought myself some Brooks shoes, I’m walking daily, and will be starting a light weight training routine this weekend. I want to start running, but I’m scared. So this book has inspired the heck outta me. I feel seen. And understood. I’ve been my own worst judge of myself. And I am afraid (nervous) to take new steps. But I’d like to try running. And Martinus’ book seems to hold my hand and offer baby steps in doing that. Those two things give me confidence to move fwd. It’s a thorough book. Very well-written.

    Inspiring and Motivating!!!!
What is there not to like about this book?! It is absolutely an easy and practical read, and informs you about everything you need to know as a beginner “runner” Every page contains a valuable piece of info, for instance the gait analysis. I never knew what the heck that was, and sure enough went to go and get my FREE gait analysis and found out I was wearing the WRONG shoe size and I needed inserts. I love a practical and down to Earth book, that DOES encourage all sizes, ages, etc to run even if it means WALK. Great job Martinus!!!! One day I am going to run a half marathon because of your words!!!

I Really Related To This Story
I had seen this author on social media and his story of taking up running when he thought he could never do it really resonated with me. I was born with a heart block and never played sports and wasn’t even allowed to take gym as a kid. Then eight years ago I got a pacemaker that finally made my heart beat like it’s supposed to and my doctor told me to go see what I could do, so I did. Martinus Evans’ journey from being told he was going to die to running marathons is a great story that everyone can appreciate. What I enjoyed most about this book was the idea that who cares how fast you can run a mile, just go out and do it. Don’t listen to people who tell you that you can’t do it or you’re too slow. Find people whether it’s online or in real life that will support you in your journey to become a runner. If you’ve never run or haven’t run in a long time, buy this book, you’ll definitely learn a lot from the many tips on running that are shared with the reader. If you’re already a great runner, you’ll already know a lot of the tips in this book, but still buy it, Martinus’ story is fantastic and honestly a lot of you fast runners need to be reminded to be a little nicer to the slower people you pass on your runs.

    The Runner in You
Martinus Evans outlines a plan for the beginning runner which includes positive affirmations, sports equipment and apparel, warm-up exercises, nutrition. resting periods with other interests, sleep habits, etc.A good book for the reader who is athletically challenged. Martnus says if he can do it, you can do it.
