Well made, well written, and not the same bits you expect
So let me first say that my kiddo is 5, nearly 6, and this is advanced for her I am well aware. But I didn’t just hand these over and leave her to it; we homeschool and these were and have been great engaging books to talk to her and introduce her into the history of the country without relying on my own learning from 30 years ago. They are packed full of information and the best I can tell do their job at relaying what happened. The subjects are still early for her and I would put these more naturally around the 3rd/4th grade levels, but they are just right to help me introduce her to history. If you’ve got a kid already interested in history or good at self-guided study these stand up on their own.The book print quality is above average to what you come to expect in most kids publications these days, and showcase a fine price point these are being set at. With basic level of care and treatment these will easily last through more than one kid and that helps make them a better vavlue. I already know that when it comes time if she wants to part with them they will still be in great enough quality to pass on to her younger cousins.

Very Well Put Together – May Not Be For Everyone
I ordered these books for my older soon (just turned 7) as he loves learning about history and reading biographies. These are definitely some of the better children’s history books I’ve seen, both in terms of presentation and in terms of trying to strike a balance between showing all the complexity of history and getting the pertinent information in. My son, for his part, was very excited to get the books and start digging into them.My one complaint (more like a suggestion for improvement) is that I wish the there was either a book dedicated to the Civil War, or the Juneteenth book was a civil war book instead of a Juneteenth book. This isn’t to take away from the importance of Juneteenth, more that the lack of something dedicated to the Civil War seems like a gap in the boxed set. However you can always supplement with other texts for your child. While these are good they definitely aren’t for all children – they take their subject matter seriously and try to pack in a lot of facts, very different from the ‘zany fact history books’ I remember from years and years ago. For some children you might be better served by checking something out from the library first to gauge interest.

Great and Unbiased Books
Sometimes it can be hard to find history books that just teach the history without being biased. I liked these for their historical accuracy and that they arenât trying to push an agenda. This is perfect for fourth and fifth graders who are learning about these concepts in school. My daughter read through them and had some great questions after that allowed us to have some conversations. Wish it came with more than four books as books are expensive.

Sturdy cover and quality books!
My first thought when I opened these was how nice the protective cardboard sleeve was for this set! It’s very sturdy. The books are good quality with thick durable paperbacks. The topics of the books are great for educating young readers and the pictures will be helpful to keep their interest. I plan on using these to help my newly turned 6-year-old learn some history topics. It will be great to add to our homeschool stash. It is priced a little on the higher side, but I think that it’s much better quality than many other options I see for kiddos out there. So many books are thin and junky these days. This set will last the test of time if they are used respectfully and as an educational tool. I think it’s safe to say you could even pass these down to grandkids someday. I’m very happy with them!

A nice set to teach your children about the history of our nation
My daughter loves to read, but she has shown little interest in history so far. So I ordered this set of books for her to try and inspire her a bit. She has already read the book about the Revolutionary War and Juneteenth, which has led to her asking me many questions. So I have had to look up facts that I have forgotten myself in order to answer her. But I’m happy because now she is finally showing an interest in history. My one suggestion to the author would be to make this a 5-book set and also include a book on the Civil War. The set comes with a nice box to store the books in when you’re not using them, so you can keep them organized.

not worth the price
The printing of this set of books is not very good. Some of the pictures depicted subvert my expectations. some of the content is too simplistic, need more detailed. Not worth the price.
