A superbly illustrated, accessible newbie’s information to the Hubble Area Telescope.
Acclaimed astronomer Terence Dickinson and his longtime editor Tracy C. Learn workforce as much as discover the starry treasures in our galaxy and past as revealed by the Hubble Area Telescope.
Since Galileo pointed his telescope on the starry evening in 1609 and found that the hazy patch above us was not a cloud however a “river” of uncountable stars — the Milky Approach, our dwelling galaxy — people have been bettering on methods to know the cosmos. We have devised ever extra highly effective telescopes and positioned them on mountaintops, removed from the brilliant lights of cities. However the launch of the Hubble Area Telescope in 1990 was the primary time we would despatched a telescope into house, past the distorting results brought on by trying by way of the Earth’s environment.
Orbiting roughly 350 miles above Earth and circling the planet greater than 5,000 instances a 12 months, Hubble has revamped 1.3 million observations, revealing the huge scope of the increasing universe past our photo voltaic system. In The Hubble Area Telescope: Our Eye on the Universe, younger readers learn how this groundbreaking telescope gathers imagery and transmits it to Earth. This e-book shares what Hubble has taught us in regards to the universe and explains its high discoveries. Chapters crammed with the telescope’s newest images supply perception into:
stormy climate on our photo voltaic system’s planets and moons and dramatic collisions in house star clusters, nebulas and the Milky Approach Galaxy the Milky Approach’s galaxy neighbors large black holes and darkish matter planets past our photo voltaic system star nurseries and glimpses of distant galaxies in deep house.

I received the The Hubble Space Telescope: Our Eye on the Universe Paperback â Illustrated, September 27, 2019, PaperbackThis is a nice sized book for someone, young or old, who is just starting to be curious about Astronomy and what is out there in our universe.Brief, but good info and nice photos. The book is not overwhelming to read, which can be a very good thing for younger people.I enjoyed reading this book and I have it out on my small coffee table to be able to re-read it and enjoy the photos.

To Infinity and Beyond …
Terence Dickinson along with Tracy C. Read have given readers of all ages a wonderful view of our universe with their book “The Hubble Space Telescope: Our Eye on the Universe”. The text is informative, detailed enough to maintain the interest of adults, but not so complex that it deters younger readers from exploring its pages. The photographs are extraordinary and help convey the majesty of our world and the universe beyond.Divided into five sections, the book begins with information on the Hubble. That section concludes with a glossary titled “Navigating the Universe” that defines various terms used throughout the text. Part 2 is titled “Close to Home: and describes our solar system and provides brief descriptions of the planets. Part 3, titled “Inside Our Galaxy” expands the information and includes spectacular photos of various nebulas along with descriptions of those included. Part 4 “Cosmic Galaxies” goes beyond the Milky Way and describes, as well as depicting, different entities in space. Part 5 “To Infinity and Beyond” shows places heretofore unexplored that the Hubble has opened to scientists and astronomers.”The Hubble Space Telescope: Our Eye on the Universe” is a remarkable little book that is beautiful as well as informative. I recommend purchasing the hardcover book as it will be one you will want to keep in your library for its photographs as well as for its informative text.

An Easy to Understand Book About the Hubble Space Telescope
This book should be in every public and school libraries and Scholastic Book Fair. I personally think the Hubble Space Telescope does not get enough publicity nor credit. I mean, astronomers are seeing and getting pictures of how the universe looked thousands of years ago! The author (an astronomer) introduces the reader to the Hubble Telescope- its structural components and its capabilities/ limitations. Donât worry about terminology, because he has a wonderful four pages of glossary for us laymen of astronomy. Next, he takes us to our solar system highlighting some interesting facts. But the best part of this book is the stunning photos of the galaxies that the Hubble has taken on our behalf. Each picture of a galaxy is included with a text describing it. It is just amazing to see what is out there. My 12 year-old son found it to be a fascinating book, as did the rest of the family. He thought the text was easy to understand. The book is described as directed towards 5th grade and up. This familyâs knowledge of the Hubble Space Telescope has multiplied 100 times because of this book. I highly recommend this book.

Fascinating and beautiful photos, interesting space info, I’d like a little more Hubble history
Some of the photos in this book are just amazing. My favorite ones are the deep space views of many, many galaxies, in all kinds of shapes and colors. I could look at those for hours! It’s stunning the beauty we have found with this telescope. The pictures of various nebulas are also just wonderful.I learned a lot from reading this book—lots of cool information. I had never realized that in the summer, we are looking at the inner part of the Milky Way, and in the winter, the outer part, and that is why it looks brighter in the summer. It was also interesting to compare what the Hubble could see of Pluto with what the close up probe showed—it showed the limitations in seeing something so small. What I would have liked is a little more about the Hubble Telescope itself, more of a history of its creation, more about the people that use it, things like that. It’s mentioned briefly how a monumental blunder left it not working well in the early days, but I remember this as big news and was looking forward to finding out just how this happened, but it’s not covered here. This seems like more of a general space info book with a focus on Hubble photos—which is still a very interesting book, and if that is what you are looking for, I think you’ll enjoy the photos extremely much.

Perfect for sparking an interest in those unfamiliar with the Hubble.
Fantastic book for a quick, entry level view into what the Hubble can do. It’s light on the detail that might overwhelm a young reader, but enough that it should spark an interest in just about anyone who reads it. This is a “gateway” book, not a text book or something intended to make one well educated on the topic- and it performs that role very well. My kids are into space stuff and both enjoyed it very much. At 9, my daughter’s interest in space was markedly improved from this book and my son, 13, enjoyed it but didn’t learn anything really… but still appreciated the info and pictures. Both my kids are enthusiasts and we routinely take our telescope out to look at planets. There’s been an increase in telescope outing requests lately, which makes me REALLY appreciate this book. They want to go through it one more time, then my daughter will proudly donate it to her school library- as she’s convinced that all her friends will like it too.

A Good Grade School Primer On Hubble
This is truly one of mankinds greatest achievements to date. The images from Hubble are absolutely amazing and I love that this books tells the history and science behind the craft. I do have to admit that I was a little underwhelmed with the visuals at first, mostly because I knew what Hubble was capable of. I read through the history, then the ok photos of planets and then…there it was…Nebulas and Galaxies! That is where the images soared. This is not just a coffee table book of great images from Hubble. That is done other places better. This is a intro to Hubble and Space in general. The book almost leads with a glossary, who does that? But this is a book for kids to learn about Hubble so there you are. Take it for what it is, a great grade school reader about the Hubble telescope. I recommend it to any young space fan.
