    Delightfully detailed on the ‘how to’ of fasting!!The client stories, each different and related to the subject she’s discussing, are very helpful in understanding how it all works and provides hope. She discusses problems you might encounter with fasting and offers several solutions. That was so helpful as my first ‘break fast’ was hard. I don’t need to lose ‘weight’ so much as to lose belly fat. I was 0.5 inches from the metabolic syndrome hallmark of the 35-inch waist measurement for women. I started with keto but found 70% fat intake difficult. My son texted me a link to a talk/lecture by cardiologist Dr. Pradip Jamnadas titled ‘Fasting for Survival”. In it he mentions Dr. Jason Fung, a nephrologist in Canada, and his work on fasting and insulin resistance. Megan works with Dr. Fung. I’ve fasted now three times in a two-week period. My weight is down by five pounds but, more importantly to me, my waist measurement is down 0.75 inches. Thanks, Megan, for this wonderful book.

    This book has changed my life!
    This review is far overdue! I purchased this book a year ago and it has single handedly changed my life for the better. This will be a long review from me because the impact has been profound! To give a background I’m 37, have had 3 children and when I started about 29%BMI. Right before I became pregnant with my 3rd I suddenly began gaining weight. After his birth i was for the first time not able to “bounce back.” I have always been an active person who never really cared about being “fit”. I ate what I wanted and once I got into health and nutrition about 10 years prior my attempts for health became motivators for eating clean or paleo and GF for some time. I say that to say I was never a dieter and although I wasn’t thin I wasn’t majorly overweight. I ate what I wanted for most of my life. I was in a tough place trying everything to just be back to where I was (average athletic build). Once I decided to officially work on actually loosing weight I realized I was in trouble. My past “workout harder” just wasn’t working. I would take sugar out of my diet. Carbs. Alcohol. Nothing really changed from the 25 lbs I needed to loose. And actually I was steadily gaining weight month by month. I began to suspect either insulin resistance or hormonal imbalances. I began intermittently fasting 16:8 for 6 months. Nothing changed for me! I was very discouraged but determined to find change. I should also note that my extended family are all obese/overweight so I knew I had my genes working against me. Enter this book. I decided to continue to dig deeper to find solutions so that I could be healthy again. In a frantic Amazon search for different methods or information on hormones and weight loss I found the obesity code which lead me to this book (focus on females). I ordered it and read the book in 2 days. It was full of straight forward, simple and practical information that I found so insightful. Ultimately she showed me how I needed to take my fasting longer in order to break the cycle I was in. For me personally I was able to apply the principles without major diet changes and restrictions which was a must for me. She shows you how to get back on track when you get off. I have learned so much about my body through the journey of truly applying this book. In short I now eat 18:6 to simply maintain my weight. On those days I eat 2 meals a day. For weight loss I fast 1- 2 days a week. I have lost 16 lbs in a year which I’m so happy about! And if I’m being truthful I could have lost so much more with actually fasting more but I took about 4/5 months and simply did 16:8. But the point is I now have tools to use that I didn’t have before. I feel so empowered to make changes to my body and health. I truly see the fasting as a healing journey and I just could not be more thankful for this book. There are some parts that are redundant however the practicality and simplicity is what sets this book apart. Also full of testimonies from women who have had had significant life change which is empowering. I’m now digging deep once again into 2 day a week fasting and focus on high fat/ protein meals. Oh and I have chocolate after every meal. I’ve seen immediate changes after maintaining for last 5ish months. I highly recommend this book if you are looking for a new approach to healing for your body!

She is beyond amazing and this book is a storehouse of information for women about fasting for health.Full disclosure, I work as a Fasting Coach for Megan and Dr. Jason Fung at The Fasting Method (TFM) and have done so for over 2 and 1/2 years. (I’ve been doing this Way of Life for 5 years.)     Great advice for Women doing IF
    I did a 19:5 IF a couple of years ago and lost 30 lbs as a post menopausal women but I went back to eating more often and gained it all back. I have been so discouraged. But this book has given me the advice I needed to realize some areas that I messed up on and how I can turn it all around. Best book I have read in a long time! And it is specific to women of all ages. I had already read Mindy Peltz book ” Fast like a girl”, but this one was so much better and had more tips on dealing with pitfalls along the way. It was very thorough and helpful. Thanks so much Megan!

    Well written and organized book. I have read many different Intermittent Fasting books, however this one sticks to the actual biological science instead of relying on dogma. It is definitely an essential guide. My only preference, would have been if she had written an entire chapter on exercise and fasting. Would like more information on that topic. Overall, well done! Definitely recommend it.

    I love this book as it has shown me how to intermittently fast and I have found putting it to practice easy to follow and understand with really excellent instructions, I find it better to follow then Michael Mosleys books.

    This was a great read. The book is easy to understand and everything is laid out step by step with extremely helpful and practical trouble shooting tips. Amen for a book that is not religiously zealous about any one particular style of eating! It’s all inclusive and that is a refreshing change. I would definitely recommend to anyone who has been or is considering fasting as part of their health journey.
