    The Caldesi’s are well respected for their Italian restaurant called Caldesi’s in Marylebone, London, and trusted when it comes to food and nutrition. But Dr David Unwin – an extraordinarily good NHS GP in Southport, in the north of England, not an expensive American private doctor or even a doctor from London as one might expect, and Jenny Philips – have been pioneers on getting people to reverse their diabetes, some of whom I personally know, astronomically lower the drug bill of his surgery and not go on some awful sacrificial diet. The food in this book is delicious. I am not a diabetic, but I am hoping this way of eating will stop me becoming one and keep my weight down – so far, very good! The other two books are also very good – something like the Diabetic Weight Loss Cookery Book, and Diabetic Meals in 30 minutes. All by the Caldesi’s with comprehensive forwards by Dr David Unwin, and also Dr Aseem Malhotra who, not long ago, was on the BBC 1 o’clock News! There is another book but I don’t have that and haven’t seen it, so can’t comment, but I bet it’s good as well- The Reverse Diabetes Cook Book. In the end, one needs to want to eat like this rather than live on pills.

    I have many food ‘issues’ as well as a serious dairy allergy and have to keep off carbs so I try to follow a keto type eating plan. This is ok if you don’t mind substituting other foods in the recipes. I have done that for decades so no problem for me. If you don’t want to fiddle about I’d suggest looking at the book in kindle or in a book shop before buying to make sure it suits you. It’s a good quality book with colour photos and clear instructions. I kept it as I liked it but was gutted to find it at £4.99 in a bookshop. Still it’s very useful.

    A really useful book if you like light and Italian style food. Really good ideas and a lot of recipes allow for less ingredients and substitutions. Perfect for me

    I like the book, gave me few ideas what to cook and what to eat on low carbs diet which I just started. Never thought of using cabbage instead of pasta but it worked for me. Opened new world of cooking experience for sure.
