Good resource, poor technical editing
This book is pretty good. I bought it straight from the publisher before it was available on Amazon. I also recently completed the entire series and am now looking for my next steps.Overall, the book and the regimen in it are good. I am 47 and was 25-30lbs overweight 6 months ago. Between a combination of this, diet, and walking a lot I’ve lost 25 lbs of that and significantly increased my general health and put on a little muscle in the process. This book is great if you are just getting back into it or a novice to weight lifting as it doesn’t come at you with a ton of stuff, instead focusing on core exercises and good progression. I guarantee you will find at least 1 or 2 exercises in here that will be super challenging if you haven’t worked out, so go slow!I took off one star because the book does have several technical editing errors. Form pictures in some cases don’t line up with the words on the page (which is the most egregious error at this stage of any lifting program and their editor should be summarily chastised for letting them through). Also, some of the words don’t exactly line up with the reps and pages on the workout trackers, especially the ones that are time based (is that 10 reps at 10 lbs and 10 seconds each? or 10 seconds either side no weight?). I muddled through a few of those not knowing if I was 100% getting them right. And the time based ones don’t talk about if you should increase time of the week if they are ‘easy’, but I assumed so.2 missed opportunities to me that should be considered for future revisions:1. Just a little more discussion on lift timing. No need to get all fancy, but give me something to start with (i.e. time between sets, timing in set for reps, etc.).2. Where to go next.. the book doesn’t seem to have a logical handoff to where to go when you are done. Where I am now. it’s a great foundation book, but seems to me there is a missing next series of ‘next steps’ books that go further both in weight lifting but also start to add in some of the other components of nutrition, etc.Recommended though if you just need something straight forward to get you going without a lot of fluff and nonsense that will probably just get you hurt.

Save your money. Get Ultimate Upper Body instead. This book does not provide enough information or challenging workouts. Lots of cable machine work instead of free weights. Not what I thought it was going to be.
