Kind, wise, and helpful–a must read before you buy ANOTHER planner
If you have a dozen half-filled planners, you should read this book.If you sometimes dread even _looking_ at your To Do list, you need to read this book. If you want to hear from someone who gets the overwhelm of the mental load–and responds with empathy and smart ideas–you will feel seen and supported when you read The PLAN.I’ve been listening to Kendra Adachi’s podcast for years–I’ve read all of her books–and The PLAN is just the most wonderful expansion of her approach to living life like a Lazy Genius. In this new book, she perfectly captures the tensions of life in the hustle culture of productivity–and then kindly suggests a different approach. I had the chance to read a galley, and I really loved the blend of paradigm-shift and practical ideas.Highly recommend!

    A useful tool!
Everything from reframing our perspective and perception of success and the perpetual reminder to start with what matters most in your own life to practically making plans for the day, the week, the month, and the season. This is such a timely book, especially for women in a culture that prioritized efficiency and is not designed for a woman’s daily shifting energy level. It is written with such grace and compassion and with the mantra “be kind to yourself” while we are under the expectation to do all the things.

    Planning with kindness
Most planning books leave no room for unexpected events. They fall prey to the planning fallacy: setting a timeline based on everything going right. If things go wrong? Then you are left discouraged and likely to say unkind things to yourself. This one makes room for all our human fallibility, the people who rely on us, the events outside our control. We just went through a pandemic. We are more aware than ever that sometimes our best planning hits a roadblock. Here’s what to do if you are human and live in the world. Here’s how to gently, with true compassion for yourself, find a way forward. Here’s how to lean in to feeling for yourself and then feeling your way forward. This book was definitely not what I expected. It has been a relief and a comfort and a glimpse of possibilities. It gives me hope. I’m on my second read of it now, and I’m very glad to have the author’s kind voice echoing in my thoughts.

Grace filled approach to time management and planning
I really appreciate the approach the author brings to this book. She addresses things like the impact of a woman’s cycle on planning and being kind to ourselves as we take care of all the things. There’s a grace to her approach and the pep talks at the end that I deeply needed as I listened. I’ve already bought a paper copy and am imagining all the people I will gift the book too. Very practical.

Time management guide that feels personal and genuine!
I absolutely loved The PLAN: Manage Your Time Like a Lazy Genius! Kendra Adachi’s approach is both refreshing and relatable, especially because it’s written by a woman for women. Her focus on prioritizing what really matters, listening to your own needs, allowing for flexibility, and nurturing yourself resonates deeply. This book isn’t about rigid schedules but about finding what works best for you, which is both empowering and practical. If you’re looking for a time management guide that feels personal and genuine, this is it!

    integration over hustle!
Everything Kendra Adachi writes resonates with me deeply. I appreciate her no-nonsense, kind, and tender approach to organization and planning. Her care for her family, friends, and herself is what sets her writing apart from the crowd. This book, offering time-management skills and processes for women specifically, is a gem. She looks at the common issues and stresses particular to women and compassionately offers a different path than the “try harder,” “achieve greatness,” one most often praised.I will say there was a fair amount of discussion about how the methods of time-management currently offered are for a man’s world and that women need something different. I could see this being off-putting or off-brand for longtime fans of the Lazy Genius, but it didn’t affect the ultimate value I found in the book.Reading The PLAN was like taking a deep breath. I could sense Kendra saying throughout the entire book, “you’re doing great.” She confronts so many of my personal tendencies. I can definitely relate to the catastrophic, everything is awful, black trash bag energy. I can become quite black-and-white, all-or-nothing when under stress, and the exercises and pep-talks in this book combat that line of thinking and encourage starting small instead of the common “go big or go home.” Well, I think I’d rather go home, actually. And that’s what The PLAN is, a call to be at home with oneself, to tend to oneself, and to let that core value be the guiding principle in every arena of life. This one had a lot of information and it was hard for me to conceptualize or practice all of it with a digital copy. I’m looking forward to seeing the information on a printed page in the future. This book is practical, informative, and funny. I feel like Kendra is my biggest fan cheering me on, and without knowing her personally, I’ve become one of hers.

I stumbled across Kendra’s podcast by accident in 2020 and have been listening even since. Such a great mix of honesty, research, wisdom & faith. Also a deeply needed lens on how planning for life is different for women, and frankly for humanity – we’re not robots and our lives aren’t production lines. Thank you Kendra (& the whole team) for making this book happen! I think you may have saved my sanity in this season.

Reads like a rant, overly focused on menstruation, the author seems to think women can’t and shouldn’t aspire to do big things in life.
