A deliciously Sweet Story!
I tear off the bottom half first, then I eat the half with the frosting followed by the bottom half of just cake. Thatâs how I usually eat my cupcakes.Charlie likes to do things a particular way, a lot of people call him âCareful Charlieâ. He feels better when things are tidy and organized; even though once in awhile it frustrates him.Charlieâs friend Sarah is going to have a birthday party at a bakery. Charlie is unsure but after making his pros/cons list he decides to give it a try. Stepping into the bakery, Charlie is greeted with so many amazing smells! He spies a big menu on the wall and makes sure to read it over (twice just to be sure). As he enters the party area he is greeted by a big group of friends and Sarahâs brother Andrew is holding a big tray of cupcakes!Concern crosses over Charlieâs face as he notices the different ways his friends are eating their cupcakes. Curiosity gets the better of him and he decides to ask why? As it turns out they al have excellent reasons! Everyone seems to be having so much funâ¦..Except Luke.Luke mentions that he is allergic to gluten and cannot eat a cupcake. Charlie thinks for a minute and remembers a detail he read earlier. Returning with a gluten free cupcake for Luke, Sarah thanks Charlie for being so careful! This is such a deliciously sweet story with a focus on diversity and inclusion. The example of showing differences using cupcakes is so easily relatable to young children. We love the bright illustrations, beautifully highlighting the uniqueness of each child (and each cupcake). This story sums up a very simple truth: that every child IS and deserves to FEEL special.

Lovely Book About Inclusion!
I love how this book talks about how all people are different in a fun and engaging way. The illustrations are absolutely amazing! I also love that part of the profit of each book goes to a special bakery called Special Kneads – which hires people with special needs. Such a lovely idea for a book, and it’s helping a great cause!
