    This is an amazing book.
I bought this for my niece. she is older than the recommended age but I couldn’t help it, after looking in it I saw so many things I wish my daughter could have read! I wish this book was available when my daughter was younger!

The tween years are a friendship roller coaster! Or at least they have been in our house. This book is such a great resource both for parents who want to talk with their daughters about the many challenging issues that arise or for the girls themselves to read and discuss. It covers so many really important topics from making friends in the first place to how to handle it when friends grow apart or begin to have different values or goals. I would love to have been given (or have my daughter been given) this book when that 10th birthday arrived…..before we really started to need it! Thanks to the author for writing it and for caring so much about this wonderful group of girls!

    Prefect for preteen
My 9 yr old really likes this book. I ordered it after a few difficult situations at school. It has allowed her to work through a few things and bring up topics that she may be confused with. Most importantly it opens the door for discussions between us. It re-enforces advice that I give her about different situations.

This book is about building friendship skills and being part of a community.
I remember my own “tween” years as being extremely confusing, emotional, and overly dramatic. Everyone I know who is currently raising a “tween” girl has mentioned that this stage of life is filled with drama at least once. So when I was contacted and asked if I’d like a review copy of The Girls’ Q&A Book on Friendship by Annie Fox M. Ed., I said yes. Yes, I would like to read anything that is meant to help girls find their path socially, with less drama and confusion. When I opened this book and started reading through the questions, I was transported back to my own “tween” years nearly as powerfully as if I’d time traveled there. Things I had forgotten years ago came immediately to mind as I read the questions- as did the feeling that I was the only one who didn’t understand what was going on in these situations. I remember thinking that there was a code that everyone understood but me, and thinking that the very questions posed in this book were “dumb.” I never asked most of them, even though my mom or any other trusted adult could probably have given me perfectly satisfactory, common sense answers. I think there is huge value in letting kids know that their experience is universal. It’s one thing to think you’re the only one who doesn’t know how to respond when a friend is kind to you when you’re alone, but bullies you when you are around other friends. It’s quite another to know that this is something that happens to everyone eventually. Just removing the “why ME?” aspect of the question is a powerful coping tool. I can remember personally experiencing nearly all of the scenarios in the book.Between the advice and the pictures, this book has managed, in just 133 well organized pages, to remind the reader that while our individual experiences may differ, there are common threads that pull us all together. Annie Fox and Erica De Chavez set out to collaborate on a book about friendships, but what they’ve created is a book about community, and how we all exist and are important within it.

Helps girls open up and talk
This book is great for girls working through typical girl stuff. Also makes it easier to discuss things happening in the book that maybe your daughter is going through and they don’t want to discuss in their own lives

I especially liked the message that when problems arise
I read this book in one evening. It gives solid advice to young girls about handling friendship issues. I especially liked the message that when problems arise, real friends work on problems together in a calm manner and not abandon the relationship. I passed the book along to my 30 year old daughter. I’m sure she will enjoy it as well.

The cover is not healthy for my redhead
I’ll not be getting to the content because the cover paints a picture that my beautiful redhead doesn’t need to see. I can’t imagine giving her a book with a picture of her being pointed and laughed at as a tool to help her navigate friendships. I would love to see a bunch of girls supporting one another on the cover. I’ll be returning the book and using the American Girl series.

My daughter has used this to categorize some of her trouble friends and do some roll play with me that has given her confidence to look at situations differently and set boundaries, where required. I love this book.
