Wonderful Read I read cover to cover & Truly Timeless Literature
I grew up watching Barney and other kids shows, not Fred Rogers and his programs. He passed away when I was a boy about 5 years young and in Kindergarten. It was very memorable though when he passed and we were talking about him even though we didn’t really understand who he was… just that everyone else seemed to be sad. Later as a teenager I gained much more of an understanding of his significance when we visited the Smithsonian Museum as a family and people were talking about him like Jesus with the Shroud of Turin… Mr. Rogers’ coats were on display and this much I recall vividly. Thus, since the COVID-19 Pandemic hit and lots of folks have been getting sick (and some passing away), including my own parents and a number of my extended family as well, I have been watching Fred Rogers clips of/about him on YouTube and reading up on him to see how he persevered and coped with his own stresses and how he helped people. I bought this book in Hardcover Edition earlier this year 2024 and enjoyed every page and will have to re-read it again very soon. 5 stars well deserved! Wonderful & truly timeless literature!

Love Makes the World Go Around!
As the host of the longest running PBS show in history, Fred Rogers inspired entire generations of viewers with messages of love and wisdom. He didnât have one mean bone in his body. He wasnât judgmental. He knew that every child had importance, every child had potential, and every child was deserving of love. Love didnât always mean being one hundred percent agreeable all the time, but it was always an unconditional feeling that every person should experience in their lifetime. Fred Rogers passed away the year this book was published, but his legacy of love is immortal and multi-generational even to this day.One of the most important messages you can receive from this book is to know that your emotions are completely natural and shouldnât be feared or balked at. If someone wants to smile, let them smile. If someone wants to cry, let them cry. If someone is angry, help them use their anger in a constructive way. Iâll be the first to admit that I struggle with my emotions from time to time. I belittle myself for the times I feel sad, I donât allow myself to cry in front of others, and I donât want to admit to anyone else what Iâm feeling at that moment. Reading these quotes has helped me lower my defenses somewhat, but itâs a process that takes time as Fred Rogers will be the first to tell you. Iâll also admit that I hate watching other people cry because it makes me vicariously sad as well. Thatâs not from a place of discomfort. Itâs from a place of love. Love is one of Mister Rogersâs most important themes.Another important thing to remember is the effect we have on other people. Whether you do a big or small favor for someone, the feeling of gratitude is a powerful thing that will make it all worthwhile. By the same token, every hurtful thing we do to another person will be remembered as well. Be careful with your words and actions. Be a positive influence on a childâs life. We take all of these experiences when we grow up and they help us develop our adult personalities, for better or worse. Everything you do matters more than you think. It may not seem like a big deal, but to another human being, it means the world. Donât be hateful. Donât be bitter. Be the best possible example of yourself you can be.And finally, another favorite part of this book is the fable Mister Rogers tells of the carpenter who refused to hire an apprentice because he wonât admit to making mistakes and therefore wonât know how to fix them when he does. Making mistakes is a natural part of the human experience, no matter how good of a person you may be. Even Mister Rogers made mistakes in his life that he ended up turning into valuable life lessons. Strength doesnât come from perfect muscles or superhero abilities. It comes from being able to admit your weaknesses and working to make them into strengths. Egomania never did the world any good.Everything you read in this book may seem like practical commonsense, but the truth is, these things donât get said enough. Too many times weâve strayed from our happiness and used our negativity to do awful things to each other. It could be a microcosmic relationship between two people or a macrocosmic political blunder heard around the world. We need Mister Rogersâs wisdom now more than ever. If everybody would pick up a copy of this book and study it until the end of time, weâd be much better off as a human race. An extra credit grade will go to this beautifully-crafted piece of nonfiction.

Birthday Gift
My son, now grown, was a big Mr. Rodgerâs fan. In fact, Mr. Rodgers was scheduled to speak at his college graduation but Mr. Rodgerâs passed away before graduation. A great loss.My son appreciated and enjoyed this book.

SIMPLE AND SPARSE
The book has a slip cover paper jacket, hard bound, and has 197 pages. The pages are not filled full as expected but have anywhere from just one sentence to a full paragraph. Yet in the simplicity of the writings, there is enough to ponder and consider by this amazing man, Mr. Rogers. His kindness and gentle nature emerges and causes the reader to slow down to the speed of life and enjoy a thought or two.The book makes a good keepsake and daily reader. Mr. Rogers reveals his simple thoughts about life and expressed a simple philosophical viewpoint without heady complexity. Would have liked some more content on the pages but it is what it is – Mr. Rogers! There is more said to ponder between the empty spaces – and so it is!

The Worldâs Most Compassionate Father
I grew up watching Mr. Rogerâs and I didnât realize then how much I needed to hear the words of understanding and compassion that he was sharing with the world. it wasnât until I became a therapist and had my own children that I realized I was lacking these words in my mind, and I needed to learn them from someone else because I hadnât received them and I was a kid. He changed the world and how we see children. I thank him for that. He normalized being a human being, and that all emotions are acceptable. I hope to teach my children with his patient and understanding words how to be themselves and be in their bodies and regulate their own emotions as I support them with the insight and curiosity of Mr. Rogerâs words ð«¶ð¼ and others who speak the language of loving kindness and compassion ð«¶ð¼ðð¼ðð¼ðð¼

It is an easy to read book but inspirational. It is a perfect book to pick up for a few minutes while having a coffee. It points out , without being ‘preachy’ the important things of life. What all humans desire…love and to be treated with kindness.

I had not come across Fred Rogers until watching Tom Hanks’ amazing portrayal of him in A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood. Fred Rogers was wise and Kind possessing many of the characteristics of human decency that are increasingly hard to find. This book shares some of that accumulated wisdom causing the reader to feel better about themselves and their neighbours. If we could all be more like Mister Rogers the world would be an even better place.
