Good chain for small boats
Short chain with thin links, be very aware what you are buying. I am using this for a PWC as an extra measure to hook it at the bow in case the strap snaps when driving. I would only suggest this for PWC’s or very small boat’s.

A little short…
Probably a little dinky in my opinion for a 20 ft 2600 lbs boat, to no fault of the manufacturer of course, but all the same in theory it should never see that kind of weight or shock if I do my part right and keep my winch maintained. Almost a little too short for my application….another 6 inches would be perfect for most any trailer I’d think.

Quality parts. Great price!!
Great chain. Nice quality. Has the spring locks on the hooks so your chains donât fall off over excessive bumps. Good length.

Easy to use safety chain
My boat did not have a safety chain, this solved that problem right away.

I attached it to my winch mounting bolt and used a 3/4 inch piece of hose to slide the chain through to eliminate the chatter. So, not all manufacturers put a safety chain on their trailers. Boat dealers don’t add it on either to keep their costs low. But here is what happened to me. I took my boat on a longer trip and wondered why the bow was riding up and down rather than staying snug to the bow roller. I pulled over and found my winch loose but why? Retightened and drove on. By the time I returned home it wouldn’t stay tensioned. My winch was nearly new at 2 years old. At home I realized the winch cog had worn rounded .. from the motion I think. The safety keep the boat secure. I have added a bow strap now that loops around the trailer tongue and hooks onto the bow eye. This virtually eliminates the chance of boat up and down movement. So on bow eye are the winch hook.. a safety hook and a bow strap hook.Lesson learned.
