    Phonics and Sight Words!!
The Torlam Phonics Puzzles have been a fantastic resource for my kids! Phonics instruction is such a crucial foundation for reading, and these puzzles make it engaging and interactive. The set focuses on short vowel sounds and blends, and the puzzle format gamifies key concepts. My youngest enjoys matching the pictures and words, and my middle child uses it to supplement her speech therapy (not that we’re telling her that). They’re also building essential early reading skills. The middle one’s reading skills have grown a ton since we began working with the puzzles. As a parent and teacher, I appreciate how this set supports phonics instruction, which is so important for helping young kids learn to read. It’s been especially helpful in building confidence with sight words and understanding word patterns. This is a great tool for any parent, teacher, or homeschooler looking to introduce phonics in an enjoyable, hands-on manner. Highly recommend!

    Word family puzzles
These puzzles are a fun, hands on way for teaching and practicing rhyming and word families. Each puzzle starts with a circular piece in the middle with a word family word ending letter pair on it, such as the -at family. The complete the puzzle, the child must find the 4 puzzle pieces with pictures/words with that word family ending, like cat, mat, bat, etc.The puzzles are color coded by middle vowel sound, which makes it a little easier to know which puzzle pieces match up. The puzzles are double sided, so you get lots of word families for each vowel, however, this can sometimes make it confusing or frustrating for kids, if they are looking for a specific word family and they can’t find it because the pieces are flipped and it’s on the back side.I teach kindergarten and these puzzles were a perfect activity for my reading centers. They were easy enough for my students to do with minimal help and they had fun trying to find all the matches to complete the puzzles. The quality of the puzzles is fairly good, though some of the pieces ripped on first use. The pieces only fit together a specific way and some of my students tried to force the pieces together, causing them to get stuck and rip when they pulled them apart. Overall, though, I still recommend them. They are bright, colorful and easy to use and just the right size for my kindergarten students. They are also a really great price considering learning activities and games are often pretty expensive.

    this helps with identification
my 2 and 4 year old can not read. Trying to teach sounds and letters at the same time is hard. So far this only help with identifying what puzzle goes where. The more we practice I believe we can get there.

    OK but not really useful
This was a good idea but the puzzle pieces fall apart and don’t hold together. You have to find all the pieces and that is a real pain and the kids just get bored. Too few sounds but a good idea. Don’t waste your money on this.
